A Neutral, Nude Eye Made Naughty.

Too Faced Cosmetics has some great eyeshadows. Even better, they have some great palettes put together in which to make some fun neutral eye looks. The best part? The names of the shadows!!!! I have two cute little palettes, one is called Naked Eye and the other called Natural Eye. Each of these palettes come with little cards that show you how to do some gorgeous eye looks.
Naked Eye has nine shadows that evoke the idea that you are laying down in a hotel room having an affair with a hot guy. I kid you not. (blush) The shadows are named: In the Buff, Birthday Suit, Pink Cheeks, Pillow Talk, Satin Sheets, Lap Dance, Like a Virgin, Unmentionables, and Stiletto. You can do three looks: day, classic and fashion. Or, you can do like I do: whatever I want! :) The shadows in Naked Eye lean toward neutral cool toned.
Natural Eye also comes with nine eye shadows but in this palette the shadows are warmer toned and darker. They are also more shimmery. The colors in Natural Eye have names like: Heaven, Silk Teddy, Nude Beach, Velvet Revolver, Push-Up, Honey Pot, Sexpresso, Erotica and Cocoa Puff. Personally, I think of pornography when I think of the names of the ones in this palette. I personally don't care though as the shadows are gorgeous!!!!!
These palettes retail for $36.00 at the TooFaced Cosmetics Website, Beauty.com Sephora, and Ulta. Personally I think these palettes are worth the money, there are nine shadows in the palette and the payoff is very good. The shadows are quite soft and the only caveat is that there tends to be some fallout from some of the more shimmery ones. Please let me know what you think of them!

Bronzer for the Beautiful, Pale Princess

I had a specific request to do a blog on bronzer for the pale princesses. Personally I find that almost all bronzers are too orange. It is sad really. And all of them are promoted as being gorgeous and perfect for anyone. So I have a little secret. I don't use regular bronzer. I use brownish blush. Yep. Since I am very pale, almost white I don't want to look orange-y so I have found a few colors that fit my routine.
Here they are. My favorite is Benefit Dallas. It is a pinkish brown that gives the best glow to the skin. I look like I have been in the sun for a few days! Another is Benefit's Hoola. It leans brown but still gives that bronzy glow. The next is MAC's Her Own Devices, which came out with the Disney collection a few months ago. I am not a fan of most of the MAC bronzers for myself as they are all too orange on me but they work quite well if you are darker. The only one I like is Refined Matte Suntan. It is a little dark but is at least Matte. I do believe most bronzers should be matte for daytime otherwise you risk looking too glowy.
The big question some people have is: where do I apply the bronzer so I don't look like a clown? You want to apply it in places where the sun would hit your skin. Take a large brush. Maybe even dip it in some powder first. Then, swirl it in the bronzer and lightly apply to cheeks like blush (mostly the upper part of the cheeks, towards the eyes), near the temple and above the temples and eyes. Finally if you feel brave you can apply just the lightest little bit to your nose (the outside line of the nose, this is where dipping the brush in powder is handy). It is always easiest to apply more product than to take it off. Start light and then put on more if you need it. If you can see a lot then you have probably put on too much.
Remember: bronzer is not for everyone. It is a starter product that you have to get used to. Once you get used to it you can go overboard and then be one of those who uses WAY too much. :)
In this picture I used Benefit Dallas. I also used the new little trio from Wet n' Wild I got yesterday. It's an okay little trio called Dancing in the Clouds. The crease color is a bright purple and the lid is a shimmery copper. On the brow is a shimmery taupe. Suprisingly for the new Wet n'Wild trios the payoff is terrible. I love the new shadows and this one is just dissapointing. :(  Pass on them if you see them. Just my $.02!

MAC is available at www.maccosmetics.com, Benefit is available at Sephora, Beauty.com, Ulta.

Philosophy's Microdelivery Mini Peel Pads. These give you glowy, gorgeous skin in one little pad.

Tired? Worn out? Are the stresses of modern life and (ahem) aging just making you depressed? Does it show in your skin? You should try Philosophy's Microdelivery Mini Peel Pads. I ADORE these. I use one each evening, after cleansing on dry skin prior to my serums or creams. The tingling feels nice. But what is nicer is the glow it gives me. I am going to admit this here. I am 40 years old. I take very good care of my skin and I don't have any wrinkles yet. For one, I am an esthetician so it is my job. Two, I don't want to end up looking like leather.
What is so special about these pads? Lactic acid. That is the acid that comes from milk. It is an alpha hydroxy acid. AHA's exfoliate the skin by allowing the skin cells to break away from each other and slough off. It is fairly mild in this peel but just enough to exfoliate your skin at a level that you will have a nice glow. Do you have acne? It can help that too. Acne is caused by a buildup of skin cells and bacteria in the hair follicles. By exfoliating you can prevent the pimples from starting to form.
This product has 60 pads and sells for $35 at places like www.sephora.com or www.skinstore.com. I bought mine at Skin Store when they were having a 20% off sale. Please let me know if you have tried this product. I want to hear any good reviews or bad reviews.

Urban Decay's 15th Anniversary Palette

For their 15th Anniversary Urban Decay released a great little teaser of a palette with 15 eyeshadows in it for $55. I was lucky enough to buy it the first morning it went on sale online or I would have been crying like many people. I hope this goes on sale again at www.urbandecay.com. and I hope that www.sephora.com will get it.
I must say, it did not disappoint. The shadows are typical UD: soft, smooth and creamy. There are only a couple that have that typical fallout. The best colors are the bright colors. My only complaint is that they really needed another crease color here. Instead of the 5-6 sweet highlighters maybe they could have sacrificed one for a crease tone.
Today I decided to go for a purple look. Purple has become one of my favorite, if not my favorite, colors lately. I used Junkshow (bright fuschia) in the crease and Omen (shimmery lavender) to line the crease and the outer eye and then under the eye. Then I used Tainted (duo lilac) on the lid and below the brow. Finally I used a small line of Half Truth (dark inky purple) in the crease. Let me know what you think of the color combination!

I am THE Makeup Junkie

Yes, I am THE Makeup Junkie...

I am an esthetician and makeup artist named Marie, the wife of a wonderful husband and the mother of two great tween girls.
Some people will tell you they are makeup junkies or that their friends are makeup junkies. I am here to let you know that I am THE Makeup Junkie. I am not just saying that. I can prove it with pictures. I have hundreds, if not thousands of eyeshadows, hundreds of lipsticks and lipglosses. Yes, I have a sickness but I am one of the happiest women I know. I can remember what makeup I bought the days my kids were born! I associate days with makeup. I remember what items came out with what collections (generally), especially if it had to do with all the L'Oreal and MAC stuff. Now I buy mainly MAC, Illamasqua, Inglot and Stila. Here are pictures of my collection:

The first picture is the main portion of the collection. I buy a lot of new stuff all of the time so I can review products weekly. I don't get any freebies yet. And I probably won't. :( I do get discounts with some of the companies and that is how I am able to purchase more than I normally would. I have been building the collection for years. It is a labor of love to me.

My favorite is Temptalia. She is the queen. Dedicated, detailed and with a love of all things makeup she really knows her stuff. Please let me know what YOU would like to see in a blog like this that you don't normally see in blogs?
