philosophy the microdelivery triple-acid brightening peel: Review

As an esthetician I am a huge fan of peels. I am also a huge fan of philosophy products. Combine the two together and you are bound to get a product that I am crazy about. I have been using their microdelivery peel for a while now and have found that it has worked wonders on my 40 year old skin. So you can imagine I was quite excited when I saw this new peel. The only drawback was the price. It is $68.00 for 12 pads. That is a little steep. I ordered it off of QVC and it came with  2 oz. bottle of the microdelivery exfoliating wash.It is also available at Sephora, Ulta, www.sephora.com, www.ulta.com and www.philosophy.com.
The triple-acid brightening peel contains mandelaic acid, phytic acid and azelaic acid to exfoliate and brighten the skin. The peel claims that after just two uses skin will be brighter and smoother. Mandelaic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid that comes from heating amygdalin (an extract of bitter almonds) with diluted hydrochloric acid. Phytic acid is an acid that comes from bran and seeds. Azelaic acid is an acid that comes from wheat, rye and barley and is used in skin conditioners.
The pad that comes in the peel kit is very large, about 2.5 inches in diameter. The directions say to swipe the pad over clean, dry skin in the evening. You can use the pad on the neck, chest and hands too. It does say that if skin is sensitive leave the peel on for 3-5 minutes and rinse off. Otherwise, leave it on all night. I left it on all night and then used my hope in a jar moisturizer,  which also has alpha-hydroxy acids in it. The next day my skin was a little rough, but there wasn’t any peeling. My skin is used to peels of all sorts, even the Jessner’s. The day after that though, my skin looked radiant. I mean it was brighter and more even toned with just one use. I want to go ahead and use another pad but I also would like to keep them to use one per week since they are so expensive.
Overall I am very happy with the results so far and I have only used one pad. Normally you can only get these kind of results with professional grade peels. Yes, the price is a huge drawback but if you are debating on this vs. a Dr. Brandt Alpha-Beta Peel, I would say go for this one.
