LORAC UNZIPPED: PERFECT NUDE SUMMER LOOK

100_2660100_2661100_2663100_2662

A couple of weeks ago I saw a cute set from LORAC at Ulta for $39.00. It was called the “Wild for TANtalizer” collection and had almost all the same items that are in the photograph above. Then I saw this on Haute Look and was able to get it for $20.00. The quad is great and has similar tones to the ones in the Unzipped palette. And the lipgloss in Andy is so cute! It varies in shade as you turn it around. I think LORAC is an underrated brand. Carol Shaw, the artist who started the brand, is a great artist and her products are of great quality. I don’t know how I missed out on these for so long!

There are four items in this set: a shadow quad, mascara, blush and lipgloss. The shadow quad has the following four shadows, all brown based (from the top, in the photo above): Undercover (matte latte cream), Unrevealed (shimmery warm bronze), Unlaced (shimmery cool taupe) and Unapologetic (matte warm brown). The mascara is their Visual Effects formula and is a curling, separating and lengthening formula. The blush is called Plum but goes on a plummy brown tone. Finally, the lipgloss is Lips With Benefits gloss in Andy, a multi-toned hue of different browns that goes on a shiny cool light nude.

For this “sultry” daytime look with the Unzipped items, I went with their suggestion of a daytime natural look. I used Unlaced in the crease. Then I applied Unapologetic below that to make my crease look deeper. Unapologetic was also applied on the outer lid and under the eye. I applied Unrevealed all over the lid to make it shimmer and pop. Under the brow I applied Undercover and then I blended all the colors. The shadows went on very nicely without any fallout and have great pigmentation. They aren’t creamy but are more powdery, so I was surprised there wasn’t any fallout. I am very happy with LORAC shadows in general. I wanted to line the upper lid with a shimmery brown liquid liner, so I took MAC’s Superslick Liquid Eye Liner in Definitely Feline (shimmery warm bronze) and used it on the upper lid. The Visual Effects mascara was used on the upper and lower lashes. This mascara is so nice!!!! It went on my long thin lashes so well and made them defined, curled and so beautiful, without any clumps. On my cheeks I used the Plum blush, which looked more like a bronzy tone. After applying lip liner (Cover Girl Sublime), I used the Andy lipgloss. All of the colors in the tube meld into a nice light nude tone. The gloss is very thick and sticky, but it does last long and has good coverage. I am happy with these products.

I think LORAC is an underrated line. The quality is very good. My advice is that if you can get your hands on some items through Haute Look or want some at full price, try the line. It is also available at Sephora, Ulta and Beauty.com.
