The Stuff You Need: LORAC Pro Palette

I believe LORAC has to be one of the most underrated brands of cosmetics on the market. Lately though they really have some great palettes and their eyeshadows are some of the best. Yes, you heard me. LORAC has wonderful eyeshadows. They are extremely pigmented, have little to no fallout, and the brand has some great nude colors that rival Urban Decay. Recently I came upon the Pro Palette ($42.00) at Sephora, and being a palette junkie I was intrigued. This palette comes with 16 eyeshadows and a small tube of eyeshadow primer (0.19 oz). The top row are all mattes, while the bottom are all shimmers. Shades range from nude to smoky.

I have to say that I have a number of palettes and I am pleasantly surprised at this one. The moment I swept my brush through the Mauve matte shadow, it was silky, not chalky and hard. It went on smoothly and had excellent pigment with no fallout. When I tried a shimmer, Light Bronze, the shadow brush didn’t dig too deep into the pan, which means the shadow pigmentation is good without being so soft that you will go through it in no time. It has just the slightest bit of fallout but not much at all. I was very happy with the shimmers too.

This palette is a good choice. It is worth the big money you will be spending. Check out the reviews on Sephora.com and the majority are also very good. It doesn’t have any bright colors, so it’s not a good choice if you are looking for a “wow” factor, but for those that want more of a defined eye. The look below will show you how I did a nice, nude, defined eye with it.

For this look I used Mauve (matte) in the crease, then Sable (matte) on the outer edge of the lid and under the eye. On the lid is Light Bronze and under the brow is Nude. I used Illamasqua’s Precision Ink liquid eyeliner in Glister (opalescent nude) on the upper lid and Maybelline’s Volume Express Plush Lash mascara in Black. On my cheeks is LORAC’s blush in Plum, which reads almost bronze and I used Illamasqua’s Melt lipstick (nude champagne). I think this makes for a nice, defined nude look for summer.

  1. Ooh this looks like something I really want! I really like how there is an equal mix of matte and shimmer. I like Lorac too they make a great silicone free primer I use daily! I will be looking up this on sephora. Thanks for the review!
