Urban Decay Holiday Palettes

Urban Decay has three great eyeshadow palettes coming out for the holiday season. Can you say drool-worthy? They are called the Feminine, Dangerous and Fun palettes. Each palette is $36.00 and will be available starting September 4, 2012 on www.urbandecay.com. They will also be available at Ulta, Sephora, beauty.com and select Macy’s stores. My wallet is going to groan, but I will definitely have to have these. After all, when Urban Decay does an eyeshadow palette, they do it right!
Each palette is a zip up, clutch style case that can be easily carried for travel. They are designed to evoke the element of Urban allure and each can reflect the different sides of your personality: have one or all three! Finish your look with a swipe of the included Lip Junkie gloss! The shadows are formulated with their new Pigment Infusion System, which keeps the shadows on your eyelids and off your cheeks. Come to think of it, I have noticed less fallout than from previous UD shadows!
Here are pictures of the Feminine Palette:

The FEMININE palette’s sultry, yet soft shades vary from shimmering neutrals to smoky hues:
WALLFLOWER LIP JUNKIE LIP GLOSS – nude creamy pink
AC/DC – smoky greyish purple
BORDELLO – pale mauve with gold micro-glitter
GUNMETAL – dark metallic grey with silver micro-glitter
HIJACK – deep metallic teal
LOST – medium metallic brown
*SKIMP – light peachy pearl

Now for the Dangerous Palette:
84700_dangerouspalette
It looks to have shadows that will do more of a smoky eye. For me this might be a hit or miss. I will probably get it anyway because I am THE Makeup Junkie and I love their shadows. I can envision myself doing some nice smoldering looks with the Dangerous palette!

The DANGEROUS palette features bewitching deep jewel tones and seductive neutrals:

NAKED LIP JUNKIE LIP GLOSS – pinky neutral
*ACE – deep grey/blue shimmer
*DEEPER – metallic dark brown with bronze pearl
EVIDENCE – deep navy blue
GRAVITY – deep violet with multi-colored micro-glitter
LOADED – deep metallic emerald
MUSHROOM – warm pale grey

And finally the super bright Fun Palette:

Review: Urban Decay Ocho Loco Glide-On 24/7 Eye Pencil Set

104_5338

A few days ago I posted a press release for Urban Decay’s new Ocho Loco 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Set. As soon as it came out I had to order it because I adore their 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils! Urban Decay always puts quality into their products, as well as fun, and I thought this would be a great addition into my collection!
This set has four new and exclusive colors and four standard colors. It also includes the Grindhouse pencil sharpener so that you will always have the sharpest pencils for your looks. All the pencils are full size. The set sells for $59.00, which makes each color $7.37, much less than the $19.00 each pencil normally sells for.
The Ocho Loco set includes:
*MUSHROOM – grey taupe/brown metallic
*HUSTLE – medium metallic brown
ROCKSTAR – dark purple metallic
*PSYCHEDELIC SISTER – bright eggplant
PERVERSION – blackest black matte
*LSD – navy with bright turquoise shimmer
JUNKIE – dark teal pearl with golden shimmer
STASH – deep green with gold shimmer
*NEW AND EXCLUSIVE!

Swatch of all the Ocho Loco Colors in Order from Left to Right

The photo above shows the colors as listed above. Trying the colors they all went all smoothly and softly. All of them have great pigmentation. In trying to wash them off I had to scrub very hard, which means they are waterproof. I used soap and a washcloth. In the look I did today, I used Psychedelic Sister. It went on extremely smooth. There wasn’t any tugging on the lid. On my eyes I used Urban Decay’s Last Call in the crease, then Mayhem on the outer lid and under the eye. I used Scandal on the inner lid and Midnight Cowboy under the brow. I lined the upper and lower lids with Psychedelic Sister to complete the look, and for mascara I used MAC’s Extended Play Lash in Endlessly Black. The rest of the look I wanted to keep very nude. On my cheeks I used MAC’s Special Reserve Highlight Powder in Rose Ole and on my lips I used MAC’s Sheen Supreme lipstick in Supremely Confident (one of their newer lipsticks).

104_5407104_5380104_5379104_5365104_5384

Is this set worth $59.00? I think so. If you like eyeliner pencils, then definitely yes. This set has some neutrals and some pop of color. Also, it is worth it because they are a lot less money than buying them separately. Also, these pencils last all day long and are of great quality. If you are not a pencil person, then skip it. It is a limited edition set. That means that collectors will be getting their hands on them and these sets will be on eBay! The Ocho Loco set is only available online. It is available through www.urbandecay.com.

Review: Smashbox Photo Op Eyeshadow Palette in Muse

104_5218104_5219

Fall is just a month away and the fall color collections are in full force. Smashbox has jumped on the bandwagon with the smoky eye trend and I am happy to say I love what they have done! I tried the Photo Op Eye Shadow Palette in Muse ($39.00) and let me say that you can achieve a really nice matte or shimmery smoky eye with this.
104_5302

The Photo Op Eyeshadow Palette in Muse comes with six shadows, three matte and three shimmers. There is also a double ended shadow brush. The shadow descriptions are as follows: shimmery coppery bronze, matte taupe, matte creamy pink, shimmery taupe gray, shimmery platinum and matte chocolate brown. The shadows are nicely pigmented. As you can see from the swatches above, I swiped them with my index finger onto my arm and they came out nicely (even the cream tone can be seen well in the photo). Next I will show you the look I have done with the shadows.

104_5279104_5289104_5282104_5286
For this look I took the Photo Op Eyeshadow Palette in Muse and used the shimmery taupe gray shade in the crease. I then used the matte chocolate brown shade on the outer edge of the lid and underneath the eye. I used the matte creamy pink shade on the lid and under the brow. I did find that I needed to blend these shadows more than other brands. Also, the matte creamy pink had more fallout than most of the shades. I used MAC’s Extended Play Lash in Endlessly Black on my lashes. I didn’t need any liquid liner on the eyes. I found that my eyes really looked large and smoky.
 104_5220

On my cheeks I wanted a light color, so I used MAC’s Beauty Powder in Play It Proper (shimmery nude pink). For the lips I wanted a long wearing lipstick in a nude color to counterbalance the eyes, so I used MAC’s PRO Longwear Lipcreme in You’re Already Perfect (light nude pink).
Overall, I like this small eyeshadow palette. The shadows have good pigmentation and they create the smoky eye effect that is popular this fall. There is some fallout in the matte shades, but that is normal in most matte shadows. Is it worth the $39.00? The actual cost is around $6.50 per shade, which is not bad. So, if you like a mixture of matte and shimmery shades and you want a good, smoky eye, this palette might be right for you! It is available wherever Smashbox is sold: www.smashbox.com , www.sephora.com, www.ulta.com, www.beauty.com.

emerginC Lavender Toner: Review

lavender toner
If you have sensitive skin, then you know how hard it is to find products that don’t react with it and cause itching, redness or inflammation. emerginC has created its Lavender Toner for all skin types but it is especially wonderful to soothe sensitive skin with a base of lavender flowers. The toner, available at www.emerginc.com and various spas such as Caesars Las Vegas, Wynn Las Vegas and the Carneros Inn and Spa in Napa Valley, is $28.00 for 8.1 fl.oz./240 ml.

emerginC is known for always using high quality natural ingredients in its products. For this toner they chose a number of ingredients that have healing, calming and soothing properties. Lavender is a well known anti-inflammatory agent, easing and soothing sensitive and damaged skin. The lavender toner also includes green tea for greater anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. To help soothe and calm sensitive skins, it also includes cornflower, chamomile, balm mint calendula, azulene, magnolia and witch hazel. Azulene and chamomile are well known anti-inflammatory agents and witch hazel is a great astringent. The toner is ideal for all skin types but is especially good for those with sensitive skin or those with acne eruptions.

Immediately upon using the toner, skin feels refreshed. With this heat the toner could be kept in the refrigerator and sprayed on the skin as a refreshing boost during the day or in the evening. I really like using this toner at night. Spray on a cotton pad and use after makeup removal to help soothe the skin, kill bacteria and promote a proper pH level.

emerginC products are free of parabens, artificial colors and fragrances. All of their ingredients are sourced naturally and they do not test on animals or use animal ingredients. In their commitment to the environment, all of their outer boxes are printed on Forest Stewardship Council and Sustainable Forest Initiative certified paperboard with non-toxic vegetable-based inks. emerginC is also a proud compact signer at safecosmetics.org.

Miracle Skin Transformer Treat and Conceal: Review

104_4974
Miracle Skin Transformer Treat and Conceal is probably one of the best little concealers I have ever used. And I have used a lot of concealers! This little wonder was developed to be used on the eye or face area and all you need is just a teeny, tiny amount to cover a large area. This fabulous product is one of her best selling, and soon you will see why.
Miracle Skin Transformer Treat and Conceal is a concealer and treatment in one. Just a tiny amount is needed to improve skin tone. It also has the M3 Complex, contains marine collagen, white rose and chamomile extracts which protect with other essential oils to soothe the skin. Color correcting minerals will transform skin with into a smooth and radiant complexion in minutes! Miracle Skin Transformer Treat and Conceal corrects by visibly minimizing the signs of aging and keeps skin smooth and glowing. It covers instantly, thus transforming skin, covering dark circles, blemishes and lines around the eyes and face. It comes in Light, Medium, Tan and Dark.
104_4981104_4982
Above you can see Miracle Skin Transformer Treat and Conceal in Light. I used a larger amount than I would normally use to show how thick and dense the product is. After spreading it out, you can see that it covers all of the skin on my forearm. You can use it with your bare fingers or even a concealer brush. Either works very well. The only bad thing I have to say about this product is that the Light color is just a tad too dark for my coloring There, that is it. I would prefer a little bit lighter color. But in the end, most foundation and concealers are too dark for me.
Miracle Skin Transformer Treat and Conceal is available from: www.miracleskintransformer.com, www.sephora.com, and Sephora stores for $36.00. The tube is 0.50 fl.oz./15ml, which is a pretty good amount considering the amount needed for each use is really not that much. It will last a good long time. I love this product and highly recommend it!

The above product was sent for review.  I am giving you my honest opinion. Otherwise you would not feel obligated to trust me and my blog. Thank you.

Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35: Review

104_5004104_5007

I am so happy!!!! Finally a cosmetics company has created a BB cream that is light enough for me and that covers enough! It is about time!!!!! Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35 is one of those things that you order and think, “hey, this might work!” Why? Because it comes in five colors for starters. It comes in Extra Light (my color), Fair, Light, Medium and Medium to Dark. I was so ecstatic to learn that it came in such a light color that I ordered it right away without even looking at how much it cost. Well, it isn’t inexpensive. The cream is $42.00 for 1.35 oz./40 ml. As you can above, the Extra Light is very light and it is the perfect color for my skin.

The company claim’s that their BB Cream is a moisturizer, treatment and broad spectrum suncreen in one. Their claim is that it balances by attracting moisture to the skin as needed. It brightens with light reflective pigments and scutellaria extract, caffeine and sucrose work to create a more even skin tone. Argireline Peptide helps boost skins collagen production. And Vitamin E and Rice Bran Extract help protect from free radical damage. Broad spectrum sunscreens protect against UVA and UVB rays.

I will tell you that it the sunscreens in it are mostly chemical, so if you are sensitive to chemical sunscreens, then this is not for you. It covers very well, much better than just a tinted moisturizer would. I used the same amount I would a foundation and found that it covered very nicely and left my face demi-matte. I am so, so happy that there is a color match for my pale pallor. For so many people out there, too many BB creams on the market are too brownish orange. I think this is the best of all the BB creams I have tried (and believe me, I have tried at least 20). The cream is available from www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com. Right now they are offering free shipping and returns on the BB cream!

National Hair Loss Awareness Month: This August Women Take a Stand

According to the American Association of Dermatology (AAD), hereditary hair loss affects approximately 80 million men and women in the U.S. alone. Women make up 40% of American hair loss sufferers, yet the issue continues to be thought of as a strictly male condition. As August is National Hair Loss Awareness Month, how about a story highlighting new and innovative treatments geared towards thinning hair in women?

Description: image005.jpg@01CD73DASpecially targeted to a woman’s biochemistry, Keranique’s innovative and breakthrough product line is designed not only to treat female hair thinning and hair loss, but to prevent the root cause of issues associated with the aging of hair and build back its beautiful richness, texture and fullness. Each product in the Keranique line is enriched with a complex of keratin, amino acids and proteins to help strengthen and fortify thinning hair, along with vegetable-derived humectants that help to hydrate, nourish and stimulate micro-circulation around the hair follicles.

According to Tammy Yaiser, VP of Product Development at ACMG, “Hair thinning in women can be caused by a number of internal and external factors, everything from hormonal changes due to menopause or childbirth; to deficiency in certain vitamins or minerals; to stress, pollution, medications or over-styling. No matter what the cause, our Keranique solution is designed to offer everyday women a simple solution to a serious issue and a means to prevent it from happening in the future.”

Review: Miracle Skin Transformer SPF20 Face

104_4971

Miracle Skin Transformer SPF 20 Face is a 5 in 1 tinted skin enhancer  that not only promises the following, it actually delivers! The M3 Complex, a rich combination of anti-oxidants and vitamins, including Saw Palmetto and Passion Fruit extracts have been designed to deliver the following promises: It hydrates the skin with Vitamins K, A and E and CoEnzymesQ10. Miracle Skin Transformer SPF 20 also primes the skin by smoothing and softening the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and pore size. The product also enhances the skin tone, leaving a flawless, airbrushed finish, covering imperfections. It mattifies, neutralizing shine on contact. Finally, Miracle Skin Transformer SPF 20 protects the skin with EcoPhysalis and SPF20. It comes in four tones: light, medium, tan and dark.

104_4977104_4978

Above is Miracle Skin Transformer SPF 20 Face in Light. As you can see, it is fairly thick. It goes on like a tinted moisturizer. When I wore it today I used it without a moisturizer or sunscreen under to see how it would fare as both. Below are photos with Miracle Skin Transformer SPF 20 Face as my “foundation” for the day. I am fairly pale to begin with and the light color is good for my tone. It blended in great and has just enough coverage to be like a tinted moisturizer. I have a gazillion freckles. This definitely made them less noticeable, so there is some coverage and it is buildable if you would like that. If you are looking for a lot of coverage, skip this. It goes on fairly matte, but I added powder for the photograph to eliminate the shine that I know occurs all the time. I did use the Miracle Skin Transformer Treat and Conceal under my eyes, and I will discuss this in another post. I like the fact that this comes in so many colors, for one, since I am very pale and it definitely looked perfect on my skin. Also, it was nice and matte, which is great for summer and the heat we have been having. It makes a great “demi” foundation I think: better than a tinted moisturizer, but not as heavy as regular foundation. Miracle Skin Transformer SPF 20 Face is available through www.miracleskintransformer.com, www.sephora.com and Sephora stores for $48.00.
