Review: Bobbi Brown Bellini Lip & Eye Palette

Bobbi Brown comes out with a different eyeshadow palette every 2-3 months. But are they really that different? The Bellini Lip & Eye Palette (http://www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com/product/2330/22647/Makeup/Eyes/Eye-Shadows/Bellini-Lip-and-Eye-Palette/FH12/index.tmpl) has ten eyeshadows and four lipglosses that are supposed to create “light catching looks”. It retails for $75.00, which is a hefty chunk of change. For that kind of money, you want to make sure you are getting your money’s worth. This palette is an online exclusive.

The palette eyeshadow shades are from top left: Navajo (creamy pinkish white), Candlelight Gold Metallic (shimmering gold taupe), Petal Shimmer Wash (light shimmery pink), Cement (matte gray beige), Presecco Metallic (shimmery neutral pink), Truffle (medium gray pink), Bellini (golden peach), Bronze Stone (pale golden brown), Brown Sugar Metallic (shimmery brown mauve) and Caviar (blackish brown). The lipglosses are: Bubble Bath (shimmery medium pink), Chrome Pink Shimmer (shimmery silver pink mauve), Bellini (warm shimmery pink) and Bare Glitter (pale peach with golden sparkle). It also comes with an eyeshadow and lip brush.
As you can tell from the eyeshadow swatches, the shadows really don’t have much pigment. I tried to get good swatches but it was difficult. The only shadow that swatched well was Caviar. I am very disappointed. For this kind of money I expect very smooth shadows that have good pigmentation and very little to no fallout. Well, these shadows have little to no pigmentation, a lot of fallout and a lot of drag on the skin. Now on to the lipglosses. They are bare lipglosses, meaning they have little coloration (as you can see from the swatches). Bubble Bath swatched well but the others did not.

For this look I used Bronze Stone in the crease, Caviar on the outer edge of the lid and under the eye. On the lid I used Brown Sugar Metallic and under the brow I used Navajo. I had a lot of problems blending Caviar into the other shadows. For mascara I used Lancôme's Hypnose Doll Lashes in Black. On my cheeks I used Bobbi Brown’s Sand Pink blush. For a nude shimmery lip I used Bellini Glitter gloss from the palette.

Okay, so is this palette worth $75.00? I really don’t think so. I know it has ten shadows and four glosses. Normally I would say yes. However, these shadows have almost no pigment to them. I am so disheartened about this. The online reviews are positive, but I cannot give it a positive review. I feel like returning it. I don’t even get the light catching eye look that it promises. I am sorely disappointed. Skip this.

you can barely see the eye shadows! so not worth it considering that there is barely any pigmentation to it!
