Review: Urban Decay Complexion Primer Potion

DSC08164

I have been on the search for the right primer for a long time. The other day I reviewed Miracle Skin Transformer’s Vanish, which is just about the best makeup prime I have seen. I had purchased Urban Decay’s Complexion Primer Potion on Haute Look a couple of weeks ago and said well, let’s give this a whirl!

Urban Decay’s Complexion Primer Potion is a opaque white lotion, that goes on very smoothly. It absorbs quickly into the skin and leaves it feeling fresh and leaving the skin looking very matte. I did use it over a SPF, because I wanted to see if it was going to make my skin look shiny. I used Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair Moisturizer with SPF30 underneath, which leaves my skin pretty well hydrated. Urban Decay claims that this product leaves the skin looking brighter and tighter, minimizes fine lines and leaves the skin lifted.

As you can see from the above photographs, my skin looks fairly matte. I used it under the Urban Decay Naked foundation and it gave the perfect base for the foundation. Even after hours of wearing this I still don’t need a powder touch up! Usually by now my face would feel oily in the T-Zone but it feels pretty matte.

Urban Decay claims that their Hyaluronic Filling Spheres and Matrixyl 3000 minimize the look of fine lines and leave the skin moisturized. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant and draws moisture to the skin, so that is a claim that I think they can stand by. I don’t have any fine lines to fill, so I cannot say anything on that. I will say that the primer left my skin feeling very soft and plump. I like this primer a lot. I would say about as much as the MST Vanish.

Urban Decay Complexion Primer Potion is currently on sale at www.urbandecay.com for $16.00, which means they are likely to discontinue it. There are two other ones they have made that must be better: Brightening & Tightening; Pore Perfecting. Either way, they will still have the same essential formula as the base. If you want to pick up a primer that is really nice and at a good price, pick up this one for the $16.00, you can’t beat it!
