Review: Beyoncé Midnight Heat Eau de Parfum

I’ve got the perfect sexy, sultry fragrance for hot summer nights. After the worldwide success of her fragrance Heat, Beyoncé introduces Midnight Heat, in collaborations with Olivier Gillotin of Givaudan. The vintage-inspired glass flacon features a smoldering ombre effect, blooming from a deep violet hue to a sheer lilac. The statuesque bottle mimics a woman’s curve, a feminine and graceful tribute to the woman who created it. The top of the bottle is wrapped in a silver band, inscribed with Beyoncé’s name and finished with a purple-tinted cap featuring her initial, “B.”Beyoncé believes fragrance to be an accessory, like earrings, necklace, or even an essential lipstick.
This sensual eau de parfum has top notes of Dragon fruit, Star fruit and Armenian Plum. The heart of the parfum is built upon a floral base of Purple Mokara Orchid, Queen of the Night Black Tulip and Purple Peony. The base dries down to Sandalwood, Patchouli and Warm Amber, which is the part most people really remember about the parfum.
Personally, I think the Midnight Heat bottle is more reminiscent of a genie’s bottle. Even the fragrance reminds me of that region, strong and spicy. Definitely not for the faint of heart. It is more from the woody & earthy category. When I first put it on I it felt heady. I never really smelled the floral aspects, mostly the base notes, which I felt overpowered the fragrance. They weren’t faint either, surprisingly. As it approached the dry down I could smell the sandalwood, a strong part of the parfum. It reminded me of incense, but better. The patchouli note was definitely the mossy kind, akin to smelling like trees and a forest. This is the part that lasts the longest. And it does last a long time. Even after two hours I could still smell the base notes on my wrist. I didn’t even have to bring my wrist up to my nose, it wafted up to me gently on its own. And this is even after having washed my hands twice! After about six hours I couldn’t smell it anymore. This is something I would wear out to an event or date with my husband.
The 1.7 oz. eau de parfum bottle of Midnight Heat is $49.00. It is available for for purchase from Dillard's, Bon-Ton, CVS, Macy’s and Rite-Aid. You may also purchase it from their online retailers.

  1. Love this fragrance, it's awesome. I would get this for the bottle alone.
