Review: OWN Anti-Aging Skincare

OWN Skincare

The people behind OWNTH Anti-Aging Skincare wanted a line that had real results. They felt that there were many products on the market with claims that had no real results to back them up. So they went and invented products that worked. OWN products have a holistic approach to skincare, without many harsh chemicals in the formulas.

Currently there are six products in the line, including a night moisturizer, firming concentrate, eye cream, day lotion and a cleanser. Today I will focus on three products: the lifting eye cream, silk firming concentrate and the refining moisture night cream. All of the OWN products are cruelty-free, gluten-free and certified vegan.

Firming Silk Concentrate ($24.99):

Available in a 1 oz. serum, this treatment firms the skin with the help of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). It works absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving any residue and works with all 3 layers of skin. It works with the body’s own chemistry to help rebuild the skin. This is a retinol free formula, it will not cause redness or irritation. The firming concentrate is fragrance-free, paraben-free and sulfate-free. I adore this serum. It goes on somewhat oily, but then it sinks in to the skin and makes the skin feel velvety soft. When you use the serum it almost acts as a moisturizer it is so hydrating to the skin. I do feel as if your skin were very dry then you would need an additional cream (see below). It plumps up the skin by hydrating it and I feel that is an immediate effect. My skin is pretty firm, so I didn’t notice any firming effect.

Lifting Firming Eye Cream ($23.99):

Everyone needs a firming eye cream at some point in time. Our eyes are the area of skin that lose elasticity first. The OWN eye cream comes in a 0.5 oz. tube and also has the same CLA ingredient that has been proven effective. It also contains shea butter, safflower oil and soybean oil for hydration. This cream lifts, firms, brightens and hydrates the eye area. In 8 weeks, 61% of women who used this showed a reduction of crows feet, 30% showed a reduction of wrinkles around the eye area. Like the others, it is retinol and paraben-free. The cream is non-irritating to the eye. I found this eye cream to be very soothing to the eye. It sunk right in to the skin and didn’t make eye water (I have a large problem with this, my eyes are very sensitive). After using it for 3 weeks I did notice that the small lines around my eyes appeared somewhat diminished but only a small amount. I still have some crepiness on my eyelids.

Refining Moisture Night Cream ($24.99):

To cap off the work of the serum you need a night cream, but if is essential to use the right one for your skin type. This night cream, 1.7 oz., has been formulated to illuminate and hydrate the skin with CLA. It enhances collagen levels, improves moisture retention for younger-looking skin. It is retinol-free, paraben-free, and dermatologist tested. It doesn’t cause redness or irritation. This cream is pretty rich. I would recommend its use if you need a heavier cream for use if your skin is pretty dry or if you are indeed in need of some firming. Otherwise, just stick to the serum, which is fairly hydrating. This cream is great though and works well as a hydration and firming cream.

Clinical Studies:

OWN performed some clinical studies to test how well their products worked. They tested out the Lifting Eye Cream, the Refining Moisture Night Cream and the Firming Silk Concentrate. In 8 weeks, 33% showed a significant increase in softness of skin, 31% showed, evenness of skin tone and 20% showed firmer skin. By 12 weeks there was 50% increase in softness, 41% increase in evenness of skin tone and 29% increase in firmness.

There are a few other products they offer, a non-foaming Rejuvenating Cleanser, and a Day Lotion SPF30, with mineral pigment sunscreens. OWN offers two kits, a treatment kit ($55.00) for dehyrated skin and a starter kit ($45.00) that has the main items to get you started with a simple skincare regimen. OWN products may be purchased through www.ownskincare.com, ULTA, www.beauty.com, www.amazon.com. www.soap.com and Whole Foods.
