Review: Pür Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup with SPF 15

DSC07970DSC07973

I have to admit this one thing. I have never tried mineral foundation. I use all sorts of foundations, from the most expensive to the least expensive on the market. But I usually avoid the mineral foundations. And I love mineral eye shadows. In all these years I just never had the urge to try any of them. My friends would rave about them, saying they cover beautifully or that they wear well. I just kept saying I was happy with my liquid foundations.

Luckily enough fate stepped in and I was able to try the Pür Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup. This foundation has been the cornerstone of the Pür Minerals line. It contains pure mineral pigments that are ground to the smoothest texture and are bound together with shea butter and Vitamin E. This foundation also contains a mineral sunscreen, titanium dioxide, which for most people is better than chemical sunscreens (no allergic reactions, broad spectrum coverage). The Pür Minerals line is great for those with any skin type too.

To wear, apply with the cruelty-free Chisel brush ($23.00). This brush, which is made from synthetic fibers, allows for maximum coverage of the Pür Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup. The brush works well with any blush and specialty powders. The foundation comes in ten shades from a light Porcelain to the darkest Deepest shade. Mineral foundation is applied a little differently. One dips the brush in the foundation, swirls and applies to the face in a circular motion. This allows for maximum coverage.

I wasn’t sure I would get very good coverage from this foundation nor did I think it would last all day. So, I went ahead and followed the directions: dipped the brush into the powder, then swirled onto my face. I found that the Porcelain color was just a tad (and I mean a tiny bit) yellow on my skin. I have extremely fair skin and I have a very hard time finding foundations that match my skin exactly. The coverage was pretty good, not heavy as with a liquid foundation but it did cover fairly well. I did use it as a concealer under my eyes and it worked okay there, surprisingly enough. I don’t have a lot of blemishes to cover, only freckles. The website says you can use the Utility Makeup Brush for added coverage. I also found that the coverage lasted all day long. I was very surprised at that.

This is my first foray into mineral makeup and I don’t really have anything to compare Pür Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup it with, but I do know a a lot about foundations. I can definitely say that this foundation is fairly good at what it does. I like that it has a mineral sunscreen, which I know many people are clamoring for these days. It gives pretty good coverage and this foundation lasts all day. I wish that the color was a little bit more neutral on me, and that is the only caveat I have.

Pür Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup is $26.00. It is available from www.purminerals.com, www.ulta.com, Ulta stores, spas and physicians offices. I also wrote a review of the 4-in-1 Tinted Moisturizer (Review: Pür Minerals 4-in-1 Mineral Tinted Moisturizer: http://iamthemakeupjunkie.blogspot.com/2013/03/review-pur-minerals-4-in-1-mineral.html), please don’t hesitate to take a look at that too!
