Review: L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation

L'Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation

The other night I went to Rite-Aid and they had placed a number of their cosmetic displays way up on the top of the shelving out of reach for 99% of the customers because as the manager said, “the companies kept shipping product but the store wouldn’t recall any of the displays”. Luckily I am 6’1” and can reach way up there. I saw the display for a foundation, L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder. There were about 12 shades and it really didn’t give much information except that this foundation “transforms from liquid to powder for the perfect bare skin finish”.

I picked up the lighted shade, Light Ivory 310. This does have a SPF 18, Octinoxate 3%.  To use, they recommend to pour a few drops onto fingers and apply on face. Upon application of the product I immediately felt that this shade might be a little too yellow for me. The coverage is actually very good. It is a sheer to medium coverage foundation, depending on how you use it. If you use your fingers, then you will definitely get a sheer, bare skin look. Try a foundation sponge and you will get a medium coverage result. I wouldn’t recommend a foundation brush because it dries too fast. After it dries it, it dries to a semi-matte finish. It does dry pretty fast.

In the photographs below you can see how I blended the droplets out for you so that you can see the kind of coverage it can give you. I took just two drops from the bottle and with those two drops (large drops mind you), I took a large section of my forearm and blended out a section with coverage of the Magic Nude Liquid Powder foundation. Then as it was drying I blended it out more to show you how nice the coverage is. It took a lot of soap for the product to come off BTW.

Magic Nude Liquid Powder kind of reminds me of Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Foundation (http://iamthemakeupjunkie.blogspot.com/2012/09/review-giorgio-armani-maestro-fusion.html), which has the same kind of consistency. To apply that one you use your fingers and it kind of is liquid to powder. This one however is much, much less expensive. And this one doesn’t have the same wonderful technology that went into making it, but nevertheless this foundation has its good qualities too. The Armani one is lipid based.

On my face below I am wearing Magic Nude Liquid Powder foundation with a little bit of Nars Light Reflecting Loose Powder on top. The color is okay for summer, it’s close to my skin (I have a very hard time with foundations, which is why I write a lot of foundation reviews. I am in search of the perfect one!) I would say this one is good for those with normal/combination skin. Dry skins can if used with a good amount of moisturizer and exfoliants. Oily skins definitely can use this, it’s mattifying so that right up their alley! Acneic skins? I don’t think it would be a very good fit for those with eruptions. Yes, it has good coverage but the powdery finish would play up the look of acne blemishes.

  1. Not sure if it's available in India but I'd love to try when it is. I am not comfortable wearing foundations during day time but in search of lightest and amazing foundation for those special occasions.
    Thanks for the review.

  3. I do you know if there was another super fair color for you to try? I have another super fair, milky white skinned friend and she has oily skin. This might be for her.
