I am not really a fan of powder foundations. I have a few tucked away in my stash, but I have not been able to get the coverage that I want. And they usually look powdery and just awful. When I received the Josie Maran Argan Matchmaker Powder Foundation I thought, “Well, this is not going to be any good!”
Josie Maran is a former supermodel and actress who has started her own cosmetics and skincare line. She wanted an eco-friendly line that was luxurious, gentle and non-toxic. She decided Argan Oil would be the focus of the line. Argan oil is an organically grown rich oil that comes from Morocco and can be used for hair, skin body and nails.
This foundation has a number of claims: first of all, it claims to self-adjust to your coloring with its chameleon pigments; it has Argan oil to balance, hydrate and nourish the skin; it mattifies the skin by absorbing oil; it has a soft focus finish to leave the skin smooth and it has sheer to full coverage. The Argan oil is quite beneficial for the skin (it is rich in Vitamin E and fatty acids), having anti-aging benefits, it softens the skin and keeps it looking young!
It comes in a compact with a dual-sided sponge. For sheer-to-medium coverage use the flocked velvety side. If you want full coverage use the smooth sponge side. The box recommends that Argan Matchmaker Powder Foundation can be worn alone or over Argan Matchmaker Serum Foundation. Personally, I wouldn’t normally wear a foundation over another foundation, but this powder foundation is so light it can be done that way. The coverage is sheer to full and can be built up. This powder foundation is surprisingly good at covering blemishes too. I wore it and had a red mark on my face that was leftover from a blemish and it did cover it. It didn’t feel heavy either, which is nice too.

I found that Josie Maran’s Argan Matchmaker Powder Foundation is extremely easy to use. It can be used with the enclosed sponge, or a brush. I tried both. A brush will give sheer coverage, while the sponge can control the coverage to allow it to be heavier. It does not leave the skin feeling powdery. My skin feels soft and almost as if I had just used a light powder over a regular foundation. One day I tried it over the Josie Maran Tinted Moisturizer, and the coverage was soft and like a powder. I liked it like that. Today I tried it like a regular powder foundation and used the sponge to build up the coverage. It covers well and is very matte. The fair/light shade is a nice shade for my skin, it adjusts well to my skin.
After using Argan Matchmaker Powder Foundation, I feel that my opinion on powder foundations needs to be changed. There are options on the market!
