Review: Ole Henricksen Perfect Truth CC Crème

cc cremeI am a huge fan of the Ole Henricksen skincare line. His line is ubiquitous at providing strong levels of anti-aging ingredients that some other lines do not have. His products do work! I did a review of his Truth Serum Collagen Booster (http://iamthemakeupjunkie.blogspot.com/2013/02/review-ole-henricksen-truth-serum.html) and my favorite product, the Truth Is In The Eyes Peel (http://iamthemakeupjunkie.blogspot.com/2012/12/the-stuff-you-need-ole-henriksens-truth.html). This eye peel works wonders on fine lines around the eyes. It is one of the only products I repurchase over and over again. I tell everyone about it and it is what got me hooked on the Ole Henricksen skincare line. When I heard he was coming out with a CC crème, I jumped at the opportunity to try it out.

Let’s talk about CC creams. CC creams are different than BB creams. They generally color correct the skin, rather than just provide tint to the skin. These creams also do the same amount of multitasking benefits that BB creams do, if not more! The Ole Henricksen Perfect Truth CC Crème will brighten, perfect and protect in 1 step. It provides moisture, a UVA/UVB broad spectrum SPF 30, and counteracts aging with a number of anti-oxidants. The sunscreen in this product is a chemical one, comprised of avobenzone 2%, homosalate 5%, octinoxate 7.5%, octisalate 5% and octocrylene 1.86%.  Avobenzone has been listed by several sources as one of the sunscreen ingredients to avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as it has negative effects on the fetus and baby. If you are pregnant and nursing this cream should be avoided. The Perfect Truth CC Crème has 5 sources of vitamin C, a Tripeptide-5 complex that is also blended with ceramides and hyaluronic acid which: boosts collagen, reduces discoloration, brightens skin, fades dark spots, diminishes fine lines, plumps and firms the skin. Ferulic acid prevents free radical damage. Coverage is sheer and illuminating with a velvety texture that melts into the skin to diffuse any imperfections so that the skin looks clear. Light reflecting pigments help to make skin look radiant. Green tea calms and reduces redness. Light reflecting pigments provide light to medium coverage and instant luminosity.

Ole Henricksen Perfect Truth CC Crème comes in two shades, light and medium. I have tried the cream several times now. I tried the light shade. One thing I noticed is the shade is a tiny bit yellow and I am guessing that is because of the color correcting properties. Most of the CC creams I have tried are a tad too yellow. Once I use it and smooth it out around my face the yellow dissipates and then I apply powder (translucent or transparent). With powder the color looks much better. I like that this is color correcting, it does makes my skin look much better!

I would say this is between a foundation and a BB cream. The coverage is much heavier than a BB cream. It covers more and the pigments that are in it correct the redness in skin tones, while a regular BB cream does not. It makes my skin looks luminous and bright. I use a little powder over it because it ends up a little too “luminous” for me, almost oily. I do like it very much. My skin looks smooth, bright and fabulous! This is a new foray for Ole Henricksen and I think the company did a good job. There is also the Perfect Truth CC Eye Crème, which is like a lighter concealer but with all the benefits of a CC cream. I am definitely going to have to try that next (http://www.olehenriksen.com/p-167-perfect-truth-cc-eye-crme.aspx)!

(from left to right: two days where I word Perfect Truth CC Crème. Notice that skin looks covered like a foundation, it looks luminous. I think the color is a little bit yellow but otherwise it looks great.)

  1. Oo this looks fab! I'm tempted to give this a go, I had trouble with BB creams being a little too light on my skin.. But with his being slightly heavier it might be a good day cream for me!
    Great review :)

    1. See if you can look at the color first. It only comes in two shades.

  3. This sounds like a great product! My only concern would be that the Light shade would be too dark for me - that's seemed to be the case with the BB creams I've tried. Great review :)

    1. I would see you if you can get a look at it at Sephora first. The color is not too much darker than my normal color, just a little bit yellow. My advice would be to try the LORAC one if you are having issues then, that one is very light.
