Review: Revlon PhotoReady Primer+Shadow

Revlon PhotoReady Primer Shadow

Revlon introduces PhotoReadyTM Primer+Shadow, a palette that allows for limitless eye looks in one convenient package. You can go from day to night with the swipe of an applicator, add sparkle for drama or use wet to dial up the intensity. Each kit includes a lid smoothing primer, 3 expertly coordinated eye shadows that can be used wet or dry and a sparkle top coat to give eyes added flare. This palette is designed to take the guess work out of application, it has a unique ‘eye shape’ layout and a suggested ‘How-To’ on the back of each package. The possibilities for the looks are endless. The shadows are created with luminous pigments for eye catching color and sparkle. Revlon’s PhotoReadyTM Primer+Shadow comes in 8 professional palettes that range from neutrals to bold pops of colors.

Above you can see the three palettes I tried. I opened them up so that you can see the colors better. Below are swatches of all of the colors.

After swatching all of them on my arm, I can say that the only trouble I had with any of the eye shadows was with the brow highlighter color. And that was only with the Impressionist and Avant Garde palettes. The primer shades are lovely, they go on smoothly and in fact are very pretty shadows in and of themselves. The glitter top coats are okay, I think if you wear them wet or have a sealer they will go on better. My favorite color is actually the primer color in the Avant Garde palette. It is ethereal and I want to use it in so many looks!

Above I am wearing the Metropolitan palette. Since my eye shape is a little different, I didn’t follow the ‘eye shape’ chart, instead I used what I know works for me: first I used the primer shade all over, then the dark brown color in the crease, on the outer corner of the lid and under the eye. I also used the silvery color under my eye to line and used it in the crease. Then I took the glitter top coat and used it on my lid. Under my brow I used the peach shimmer shade. On my lashes I am using Lash PotionTM by Grow LusciousTM and I did line with the Carbon Cleopatra shade of PhotoReady Kajal Eyeliner + Brightener. On my lips I am wearing Pango Peach Super Lustrous Lipgloss. I’m very happy with this look and I think my eyes look well defined!

While wearing the PhotoReadyTM Primer+Shadow palette, I checked periodically to see how everything was holding up. These eye shadows wear very well. For me they lasted all day long when used with the primer that came with them. I like how smooth they go on, and that there isn’t any fallout from the eye shadows. The only problem I had with them is that when getting shadow onto my brush or using the applicator that came with the palette, I noticed that some chunks would come off of the shadow base because these eye shadows are very soft. That is my only complaint.

See my other reviews on the new Revlon items, such as the new Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss(http://iamthemakeupjunkie.blogspot.com/2013/07/review-new-revlon-super-lustrous.html), which you can use with  the iconic Super Lustrous Lipstick (http://iamthemakeupjunkie.blogspot.com/2013/07/review-new-revlon-super-lustrous_8.html)  Use the PhotoReady Kajal Eyeliner + Brightener  with the PhotoReady Primer+Shadow(http://www.iamthemakeupjunkie.blogspot.com/2013/07/review-revlon-photoready-kajal-intense.html). Make sure to use their new Lash Potion by Grow Luscious (http://iamthemakeupjunkie.blogspot.com/2013/07/review-revlon-lash-potion-by-grow.html) on your lashes. For your lips you will want the all day look of ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick (http://www.iamthemakeupjunkie.blogspot.com/2013/07/review-revlon-colorstay-ultimate-suede.html).

    1. Thanks! Right now I am partial to Metropolitan. But I love the ethereal blue in the Avant Garde one.
