Review: Josie Maran Magic Marker Lip & Cheek Stain

Josie Maran Lip & Cheek StainBefore I say anything else, I want to say that this is the Allure magazine Best of Beauty Award for 2012! I normally do not like markers for any cheek and lip stains. So I went into this testing with a “ugh” factor. I thought for sure that I was going to dislike these. They are supposed to give lips and cheeks a really sexy flush. They have hyaluronic acid and sugar extract to smooth out the lips for a hot, sexy pout. Okay, I’ll bite…

So I decided, okay, I will give the Josie Maran Magic Marker Lip & Cheek Stain a try. I am thinking that this is going to be one of those products that will be a mess. I am pleasantly surprised that my idea of the product did turn out wrong. What is so special about the Lip & Cheek Stain? To start off with the color stays for hours and these are extra pigmented, long wearing formulas. The color can be applied to have a nice subtle hue or a bright intense glow. It depends on how you want it. These markers can be applied on the go and touch ups are done in an instant. When I used it as a cheek glow, the color didn’t dry too fast, which was nice, so it did make easy to use as a blush. These work great as a lipstick, with the color blending into the lip line. No bleeding!

DSC04974In the photo below I am wearing Waltz on my lips. Here I applied just a tiny bit as a light stain. It really does get darker. I like the fact that I don’t have to wear liner if I don’t want to. This gives a nice look to the lip and my lips don’t feel dry!!!! I have never felt something like this with a lip stain before. So nice! I am honestly loving this. If you want a glossy look, a plain clear gloss would look great on top of this.

Here I am wearing Mambo on my cheek as a stain. I applied it on top of foundation, as I would any cream or liquid product. Then the cheek stain and then a little bit of powder. The cheek stain stays liquid long enough for me to blend it, which is great because I don’t want a clump of stain in the middle of my cheeks! It blends nicely, I do get a little bit of stain of my fingers though. My foundation didn’t get cakey. Then I applied a tiny bit of powder to set it. The product works great as a cheek stain too. Liking this too!

Take a look at the reviews of the other Josie Maran products I have tried: Josie Maran Argan Beautiful Eyes Eye Shadows (http://bit.ly/1aYLNYB), Josie Maran Argan Tinted Moisturizer (http://bit.ly/16IoejC), Josie Maran Argan Magic Brows Brow Marker + Brow Powder Duo (http://bit.ly/193eG5n) and Josie Maran Argan Matchmaker Powder Foundation (http://bit.ly/167qNh7). These reviews will give you an idea of the quality of the Josie Maran line. I think my favorite Josie Maran product has to be the Josie Maran Argan Love Your Lips Hydrating Lipstick (http://bit.ly/1938cU4). Josie Maran products are pretty good. The line is known for a few key items and definitely for the Argan oil.

I am happy with how this performed as both a lip stain and a cheek stain. It isn’t too dry on the lips and it worked nicely as a blush, without being streaky. It now comes in 8 colors, all named after dances. The Magic Marker Lip and Cheek Stain is fragrance-free, made with a number of natural ingredients, a good number of organic ingredients, is cruelty free, is made without parabens and is proud to be a vegan product (http://www.josiemarancosmetics.com/shop/argan_color/magic-marker-lip-and-cheek-stain-waltz).

The Josie Maran Magic Marker Lip and Cheek Stain pens are $19.00 each. They can be purchased at www.josiemarancosmetics.com, www.sephora.com or SEPHORA stores.
