Instead of just reviewing products all of the time, I thought I needed to take a step back and give some mini-reviews of some awesome products that you should try. These are products I have tried and really love. So from now on I will have what I call my “Hit List”.
Yves Saint Laurent Rebel Nudes Glossy Stain
Touted as a nude gloss with a revolutionary 3-D effect, this is a beautiful lacquer gloss that actually lives up to its name. Pricey at $34.00, it comes in 10 shades. Featured at the right is 107 Naughty Mauve (rose mauve). This gloss is the first to premier what they call a Euphoric Pearl technology, what I assume means their all day wear with a gorgeous shine. It is so pretty on. This is now my favorite gloss and I cannot wait to order more! I have my eye on 101 Nude Provocateur (rosy nude). The photo below cannot do it justice. My lips look huge wearing it! It is made without any parabens, sulfates and phthalates. One thing I really like about this is the applicator. It has a slanted tip that allows for “flawless” application. Available at SEPHORA stores or www.sephora.com and Yves Saint Laurent counters.
Dolce & Gabbana the lipstick Shine Lipstick
I was a little nervous about this lipstick being a dud. I had tried out the Dolce & Gabbana eye shadow quad and was extremely disappointed. So disappointed that I am returning it! So when I applied this lipstick, I was shocked at how creamy, shiny and pigmented it was! This is another product that is pricey but worth every penny. It is listed as a high shine lipstick that is a perfect balance between lipstick and lip gloss. It is so beautiful on the lips, very creamy but shiny too. There are 6 shades and they are all quite pretty, not too dark or too bright. The point with these lipsticks is to for anyone to be able to wear the colors. Famous Makeup Artist Pat McGrath created the line for Dolce & Gabbana and I think these are definite winners. I want to check out more of them. Each one is $32.00 and is available from Dolce & Gabbana counters, SEPHORA or www.sephora.com.
NARS Radiant Cream Compact Foundation
I was such a fan of the NARS Radiant Cream Concealer that I knew I had to try their new Radiant Cream Compact Foundation. I love to try foundations. I’m on the hunt for the perfect one: I need the best skin tone shade, coverage and wear. I have to say that this one is very good at all of three of these things! I purchased Light 1 Siberia, which is the lightest shade. It is for those with “fair to light w/neutral balance of pink & yellow undertones”, which describes my skin almost perfectly! I apply it with the BeautyBlender sponge (I bought some new ones, the Pro Black), and it has excellent coverage that can be adjusted to your taste. The foundation melts into my skin and it is just about perfect for me. This makes me very happy. I really adore the Radiant Cream Concealer, which has to be one of the best concealers on the market. The wear on this is also great, it lasts all day long. I also have the NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder (also awesome), which when used with this gives the skin a gorgeous finish. It’s not matte but a soft glow. The only thing I don’t like but I can understand is that the compact comes separately and then you buy the case. I don’t use the sponge that comes with it. I would prefer just the compact itself in a better case all together. The compact is $38.00 and the foundation comes in 15 shades, most of which lean towards the lighter skin tones. The case for the compact is $10.00 and has the little sponge. The foundation is availabe through www.narscosmetics.com, www.sephora.com, SEPHORA stores and department stores where NARS is sold.
Jurlique Purely Bright Facial Treatment Mask
I received this mask to try out and I wanted to include it because it is amazing! Whitening products are really in now and when there is something that works, I will shout from the roof tops to let you know that, “hey, you need this!” This formula has VitaBrigthtKX that delivers a highly concentrated solution to help inhibit melanin synthesis. It reduces the appearance of dark spots and discolorations to revive the complexion. Powerful ingredients are delivered through the paper mask to the skin’s dermis, making it look brighter and radiant. VitaBrightKX contains the following ingredients: kakadu plum that reduces skin discolorations, citrus unshiu peel extract that inhibits melanin synthesis, African Birch extract which is a powerful anti-oxidant and ascorbyl glucoside to protect the skin from environmental aggressors, improve skin’s clarity and support natural collagen production for firmer skin.
The mask is applied to the face and left on for 10-15 minutes. I use it every week to help get rid of all the sun damage I have (which is a ton!!!!). It has definitely helped some. I usually just cover all of this up with foundation and I am now showing it to all of you!
The first photos are before and the second are after. I have considerable sun damage from my childhood. As you can see, the mask does a very good job of helping to get rid of some of the dark spots and sun damage. The first time I used the mask I definitely noticed the most difference. And I think you will notice it too (July 30th, 2013). In the second set of photos (August 15th, 2013), you can see some difference, but it is not as dramatic as the first time. Still, I think this mask is awesome and will continue to use it to lighten my dark spots and discolorations. The set is $54.00 and is available from www.jurlique.com.

Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation
Yes, it is another foundation review. I think this is a great foundation. I reviewed this one a few weeks ago (http://bit.ly/15QxVQL). Hourglass is one of the lines to watch. All of their products are amazing, of the highest quality and well made. I almost put one of the lipsticks in this Hit List, but thought this belonged here instead. This foundation is the only one I have ever used where I have not needed any powder. It is oil-free, truly mattifying and goes on beautifully. I use a sponge for application, because it dries fairly quickly and with a brush you might end up with streaks. There are 16 shades to choose from. It has medium to heavy coverage, another plus. For more information, please see my review: http://bit.ly/15QxVQL. It is available from www.hourglass.com, www.sephora.com and SEPHORA stores for $55.00
I hope you have enjoyed the current version of the hit list! If you have some products that you think would be great additions for the next edition, let me know and I will try them out!
