Review: LUSH Gorilla Perfumes Sikkim Girls and Sun

LUSH (the one company that truly believes in the freshest ingredients in their products) introduces Gorilla Perfumes, which are inspired by the lore of the British countryside. From the very quiet little seaside town of Poole, England a father and son team of perfumers, Mark and Simon Constantine, worked together to create a new form of fragrance that defies what perfume is about. Taking into account memories, music, art and stories, they create perfumes that tell a story and evoke emotion from the wearer. These are antidotes to regular mass-market perfumes. Made with quality ingredients, each wearer, gets excited about Gorilla Perfumes.

I tried out Sikkim Girls and Sun. And funny enough, my daughter went into a LUSH store and came home with the brand’s signature scent, Karma, and was so excited. “Mom, look at my new perfume. It’s called Karma, from LUSH! This is the hottest thing.” The scent is a beautiful mix of spice and citrus that combines patchouli, orange and lemongrass. It is an ode to hippies and head shops and was inspired by music. It is a very powerful fragrance and is definitely one that I can see teens wanting to wear. My daughter is in her hippie phase, so this fits her fine. Karma is also not too overpowering.

Sikkim Girls

Imagine the subtle, seductive, heady, exotic, floral fragrance that is inspired by the Sikkim girls: the soft sirens who seduced a Darjeeling cafĂ© owner's son-in-law, simply with the subtle and sensual sway of their bodies. Frangipani, jasmine, tuberose and vanilla that conjure exotic possibilities  This perfume is for those who love florals, as the notes are almost all sensual floral notes with hints of vanilla to ground it. The fragrances are made with mostly natural ingredients and some safe synthetics.

When I open the bottle I smell the frangipani and the jasmine and they take me to another place. For me I like that it is not too strong of a floral. I get migraines from fragrances and this is a beautiful fragrance, heady but sweet and it lasts all day. Love Sikkim Girls! The range is from $35.95-$99.95 for this great collection.

 Sun

Imagine liquid sunshine. Or “visions of a big orange sun on a lollipop stick”. This fragrance is heavenly. LUSH co-founder Mark Constantine was having a melancholy winter, cold and unhappy, so he daydreamed about a road trip he took to the United States. He had been driving down the New Jersey Turnpike on the way to Cape May. Listening to a playlist he had created specifically for this trip, he cheered up, dreamed of sunnier climates, being warmer, sharing adventures with friends and loved ones. One song by Simon and Garfunkel, “America” was the key to recreating the scent of summer! He opened the fragrance cupboard and started to recreate the scent of summer! This scent is zesty, vibrant, tangy tangerine with mimosa fizz and sultry sandalwood that really says Sun.

When I wear this scent it immediately makes me happy. The citrus base is so fresh and vivid. As I mentioned, I suffer from severe migraines and Sun is one of the only scents that I can wear without it making me sick. Sikkim Girls is the other one! It is a lovely, sweet perfume that makes me happy. I feel perky when I wear it! The collection ranges between $14.95-$55.95.

I am so glad I had a chance to discover the LUSH Gorilla Perfumes. I am going to go to the store and take a look a look at a few others. There are 3 sets of Gorilla Perfumes, some are available online only. There are the Newest, Greatest Hits and Exclusive. In each of those sets some are designated Vegan.

Gorilla Perfumes are available on www.lush.com and LUSH stores (all over the world!).
