Locally made cause- metics! Haughty Cosmetics, a luxury makeup line founded by Michelle Coyle Edwards, donates 50% of its profits to prevent domestic violence.
Haughty Cosmetics debuted in 2011 with its Perfect Finish Lip Gloss, designed to provide the color of a lipstick and the shine of a gloss while moisturizing, protecting, and perfecting like a balm. It has since launched an inspirational cosmetic brush line and Pressed Satin Luxury Eyeshadow, a long-wearing formula containing vitamin E to fight aging and condition the skin. Haughty products are paraben-free, "Tested on Divas, Never on Animals," and made in the USA.
Michelle Coyle Edwards founded Haughty after realizing that she could make a difference for countless women by combining her love of cosmetics with her passion to end relationship violence. The resulting product line pledges 50 percent of its profits to domestic violence prevention education. Domestic violence affects one in three women and is prevalent at every socioeconomic level. While much work has been done to assist victims of domestic violence, resources designed to prevent domestic violence are limited. Domestic violence prevention education programs reach out to young men and women in high school, when they might begin to find themselves or their friends in volatile or dangerous dating situations. By supporting this cause, Haughty hopes to affect long term, significant change by helping young people avoid abusive or violent situations and teaching them to develop healthy relationships.
“I am so proud to have launched a company founded on one of my core beliefs: that true beauty comes from empowering others.”
