This holiday season smashbox has come out with a delightful collection of eye shadow palettes and lip glosses that scream luxury. I wanted them immediately! I’m glad I did. These eye shadows are some of the best that they have ever put out. They are soft, pigmented, have great payoff and the colors are so beautiful. There are metallics, mattes, iridescents and satins.
The Wondervision Collection consists of 3 eye shadow sets, each with an eye shadow palette, an Onyx Limitless eye liner and a Jet Black Full Exposure Mascara. There is also a Lip Gloss Set with 5 lip glosses in various holiday ready shades.
The Cosmic Set has 6 shades that are absolutely gorgeous. Sandstone (satin light yellow), Silver (metallic champagne silver), Luster (satin deep taupe), Aqua (deep metallic aquamarine), Smoke (matte charcoal), and Sapphire (deep lightly shimmering blue-black).
All of them swatched beautifully and have great payoff. I love the look that I did with them. For me this was the favorite of the bunch! I will add that there is fallout with the shimmery shadows, as is quite common. But I just brush it away with my powder brush, no fowl no harm !
To make this smoky eye I used Luster in the crease then Smoke in the outer edge of the crease. Under the eye I used Sapphire and I also used it in the crease to add depth. Aqua was spread all over the lid and I think it is a gorgeous color! Under the brow I sued Silver (more of a warm tone really). I lined with the Jet Black liner under the eye and on the top lid and used the Full Exposure Mascara. I used Pout Lip Gloss, as this look called for a nude lip.
The Flash Set eye shadows are on the cool side and I found them to be pretty good, except for one. The colors are: Pink Shell (iridescent lightest pink), Ballet Pink (satin deep pink), Taupe (metallic taupe), Purple Shimmer (glittery light mauve shimmer), Slate (satin rock) and Plum (matte plum). Purple Shimmer is the only shade I had trouble using, it has very little payoff and doesn’t even want to swatch well. All the other colors look gorgeous on.
For this look I used Slate in the crease, then Plum in the outer corner of the eye, under the eye and in the crease to add depth. I used Taupe on the lip and used Purple Shimmer under the brow. This cool set makes a beautiful eye. I used Pout lip Lip Gloss and Full Exposure Mascara, no eye liner.
The Sparks Set eye shadows are Bare (light satin warm pink), Peach (iridescent peach gold), Gold (metallic gold), Coral (shimmery coral gold), Bronze (glittery bronze brown) and Cocoa (matte warm brown). This is a really warm eye set. Love it. I really do.
To add fire to my lid, I used Bronze in the crease (not as glittery as it seems) then Cocoa on the outer edge of the lid and under the eye to line. I used Gold on the lid (beautiful shade) and Peach under the brow. These shades really made the green in my eyes stand out, as you can see compared to the other photos. On my lips I used Radiant Lip Gloss.
Lip Gloss Set ($24.00)
These five lip glosses are definitely in a holiday mood. Personally I think they are not packed with too much pigment. As you can see, they are don’t look too pigmented in the swatches. I do like the colors and they look very pretty on. Also, they wear okay. Mine wore most of the morning. The lip glosses are extremely sticky though. If you are looking for something similar to MAC’s lip glass, then you will be disappointed.

So, should you purchase these holiday sets? Yes on the eye sets. They are packed with pigmented eye shadows and you also get an eye liner and a mascara to boot. I would skip the lip gloss set though. I think it is okay, but there are better ways to spend your money. All three eye sets are worth the money. So good job smashbox!
