If you read my Exclusive Interview With Manna Kadar, then you are aware she has had a long road to get to where she is today. She has worked hard to create a cosmetic line that speaks to her sensibilities. Manna believes in Beauty Simplified: just a few steps in less than 7 minutes to look beautiful. She has 3 Steps: Prime, Polish and Perfect. I tried out a few of the products to see for myself how they fare next to some of the biggest and most well known names in the business.
The first thing I tried was a sample I had of the primer, Camera Ready. On her site she has a nice chart showing the comparisons of various other primers and how they stack up to hers. Camera Ready mattifies, fills in pores and softens fine lines, moisturizes, is lightweight and lasts 16 hours on the skin. It is $42.00. It is a silicone based primer, as far as I can tell at least, since it left my face feeling slightly slippery. I don’t mind that personally as I don’t have any issues with silicones. Silicone helps to give slip to cosmetics and allows them to go on the skin better and last longer. Some claim that they are comedogenic but research has not supported that claim. I do wish her website had more details on the product ingredients.
Next I tried the foundation, Flawless Face Face Makeup. It is a liquid makeup available in 6 shades for $29.00. I like the shade I chose, Cool Neutral N3. The foundation went on well, did not cake at all and had sheer to medium coverage. I like that I can build the coverage as needed. Somehow I lucked out and this shade was actually a good match for my ultra-pale complexion. I used a BeautyBlender for application, so it started off sheer and then went on medium as I applied more foundation. The color was actually not bad. I picked fairly blind off of the website. After years of trying and succeeding, I am pretty good at figuring out which shade I can wear. I think this foundation is pretty good and would do even better if she had more shades available.
I really wanted to try out her color cosmetics to see if they are on par with other brands. So I bought an eye shadow palette, Soft Yet Sexy, because it is full of colors that I thought would be good at bringing out the green in my eyes. They are all matte shades and the pigmentation is really quite good. These palettes are $45.00 for 5 eye shadows. She has 7 different ones to choose from and sells an eye shadow primer too use underneath the eye shadows. I used my UD Primer Potion Anti-Aging underneath these shadows. This palette has a: matte pink, matte mauve, matte eggplant, matte dove gray and a matte taupe. The eye shadows are very soft and easy to blend, pigmented and the palettes are coordinated for fun, flirty and beautiful looks.
Blush in The Big “O”, $19.00, is a bright apricot with a slight bit of glitter, I think it is a great shade for just about anyone. Personally, I love the name and it conjures up notions of a woman’s flushed cheeks after a certain event…the shade is very soft and pigmented and you do not need to use as much as you might think. Smile and apply to the apples of the cheeks and work backwards.
One of my favorite products is Manna Kadar’s Lipstick. I got Gliss $21.00, a shimmery nude apricot shade. Her lipsticks are great because they feature a primer built into the lipstick so that the color will not bleed or feather. For me, who is starting to have some issues with aging lips, I think this is awesome! Even with a lip primer and lip liner, I can still have some feathering of lipstick color. Her lipstick is so nice. It is very pigmented and lovely. Quite beautiful in fact. I love the shade I purchased. The shimmer made my lips look enormous (not bad) and lasted a long time on my lips. I definitely want more of these shades!
What I am really excited to tell you about is the Limited Edition Sheer Glo ($29.00) that I have. I was the first person to see it!!!!!! This is going to be in the December Birchbox and it is a beautiful shade of shimmering hot pink. Sheer Glo is a liquid luminizer that can be used many ways. Use it in foundation to give yourself a gorgeous glow, on top of your cheeks like a luminizer to make the cheeks look shimmery and effervescent, mix it in with lotion to use on your body or alone on the arms or to highlight the décolletage. It is lightweight, has a sheer finish, moisturizes and lasts 16 hours.
I am quite happy with the Manna Kadar Cosmetics that I purchased. The line has some very nice items. Manna has been hard at work for years on her line and it has paid off. My only concern is with the website. I would like to see the products better represented on the website: more details, information, swatches, etc. Otherwise, everything is pretty darn good. Her line is going to be taking off big soon. She has more ideas on the horizon and they are definitely on trend. If you have tried anything from her line, let me know in the comments section please. I would love to hear from you and I would love to hear your opinions!
