Review: Ouidad Climate Control and Moisture Lock Define and Shine #Ouidad

Ouidad is a brand known specifically for the curly and wavy haired of this world. The products are designed to bring out, control and love waves, kinks and curls. I was able to try out two products that Ouidad favors as some of the best in their line. They are Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel and Moisture Lock Define & Shine Curl Styling Gel-Cream. My hair is something of lion’s mane. Kind of wavy but not really curly. It is very thick in the sense that I have tons of hair to work with but the actual cuticle of the hair itself is somewhat finer than that of a person with truly curly hair. In a few words, my hair is a pain in the butt.

Ouidad the stylist opened her first salon in 1984 and catered exclusively to curly hair. She has trademarked cutting and styling techniques and award winning styling products. Finally the curly haired in this world had a home. She was sought out by her peers for her knowledge and her dedication to empower every stylist the skills to work with curly hair.

Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel

Ouidad Heat and Humidity Gel

This gel is amazing because it is smart. The heat activated wheat protein breathes in humidity and protects the hair shaft to prevent it from expanding and becoming frizzy. It has a water soluble formula of amino acids and Vitamin A to hydrate and nourish the hair, thus leaving it unbelievably soft, manageable and full of shine. The gel never builds up on the hair, so it always stays manageable. Even the most unruly curls can be reigned in and be rendered calm and controlled. It works quite well with a blow-dryer if a straight style is preferred.

Apply with the Rake & Shake technique, where sections of damp hair are divided and a nickel sized dollop is applied into each section. Then rake each section from scalp to ends, shake hair back and forth to create curls. Hair can be air dried or blow dried. Personally, I find that less frizz is created when hair is air dried. I try and do this as much as possible and I get better curls this way. I also take my hair and scrunch it while blow drying to create curls. This works really well too. The Climate Heat & Humidity Gel is heat activated and really works only when a heat source is on the hair. I find that the curls end up looking better this way. It works great for waves and curls both. This is a multiple award winning product!

It comes in several sizes: 2.5 oz. is. $9.00; 6 oz. is $16.00; 8.5 oz. is $23.00 and 33.8 oz. is $69.00.

Moisture Lock Define & Shine Curl Styling Gel-Cream

Ouidad Moisture Lock Define and Shine Curl Styling Gel-Cream

This styling gel-cream is perfect for adding definition to waves and curls. If you have lifeless waves and curls that are in need of some TLC, then this if for you! A unique botanical and vitamin enriched complex infuses hair with moisture to plump up the hair shaft so that waves and curls maintain their form, promoting definition. It keeps them hydrated, defined, soft and shiny all day long. The non-sticky formula glides onto hair without weighing it down. For me, Moisture Lock Define & Shine Styling Gel-Cream really helps to get rid of the frizz associated with having wavy hair but helps to give it the actual pattern of the curl instead. This product is better used if you air dry or diffuse your hair. Hot blow drying or straight brushing isn’t recommended.

It comes in two sizes: 2 oz.. $10.00 and 6 oz. $24.00.DSC07703

The best thing about these products is that although they both do different things, they treat my wavy hair with respect and let it shine on its own. When I want to wear my hair wavy I know I can do it with ease by using these items.
