Review: SEPHORA + PANTONE UNIVERSE 2014 Color of the Year Collection #radiantorchid

Lush. Modern. Beguiling. Radiant Orchid-An Inspired Flush of Uninhibited Beauty

SEPHORA PANTONE UNIVERSE Radiant Orchid matte lipstick

PANTONE’s Color of the Year this year is Radiant Orchid 18-3224, a beautiful bright purple with a hint of lilac. It is a color that anyone can wear in one way or another. SEPHORA has come out with a spring color collection that has captured this gorgeous color in forms that will leave you looking like you have stepped out of a garden of flowers. PANTONE is the color authority. They forecast the colors that we will wear each season with authority and with precision. SEPHORA brings this forecast to life with limited edition trend collections that are beautiful and fascinating to wear.

“This collection designed by SEPHORA evokes the sleek modern lines of the iconic PANTONE Chip, and newly imagined with a captivating Radiant Orchid ombre color variation, 2014’s Color of the Year Collection makes a stunning presentation. Each color product features SEPHORA Collection’s high performance formulas including Orchid essence infusion, that offer rich color payoff and luxurious feel during wear, with refined finishes like matte, cream, metallic and lacquer.” Radiant Orchid pairs well with so many other colors: gray, taupe, cream, black and especially turquoise. SEPHORA artist Aaron de Mey says this collection is extremely versatile and it is an exceptional collection for all skin tones when worn alone or with other colors on the face.

The Eye: Radiant Femme Artistry Set $48.00

A versatile palette of 25 eye shadows, that includes Radiant Orchid, with complimentary tones of matte, glitter and shimmery shades. All are highly pigmented. They go on easily and last all day long.

Personally, I think this is one of the best Pantone palettes that SEPHORA has put out so far. The shadows are much more pigmented than previous palettes. I also love the color combinations. They all revolve around the Radiant Orchid shade but I think that makes it fun. I did two looks and both times I had great luck with the shadows.

Gazing Paint Liquid Liner $17.00

Define eyes with this bold eye liner in Radiant Orchid. It has a beautiful matte finish, a soft flexible brush that glides on easily and a water resistant formula that stays on all day long.

Radiant Paint Gloss Trio $24.00

Lips are glossed over with this trio of three versatile shades in one set. Enriched with orchid essence, you get the shades: Radiant Orchid, Nude and Sheer Pink. They can be worn alone or layered for an ombre effect (I love to layer them for the ombre effect, which looks beautiful with these glosses).

Also in this collection are:

Radiant Rush Matte Lipstick $18.00: Satin finish matte lipstick in Radiant Orchid shade, infused with Orchid essence and collagen to plump the lips. Creamy formula glides on easily. Wears all day long.

Nail Ambrosia Trio $18.00: Three nail polishes that match the shades in the gloss trio. Provide the perfect flash of color for fingers and toes. Use the sheer finish for a modern effect on the French manicure or layer the three together for a one of a kind ombre nail effect.

The Face Collectors Set: Radiant Femme Artistry Set $75.00: Six piece collectors edition features pieces only available in this set.

I did two looks with the eye shadow palette. Below you can see the two looks I did.

LOOK #1:

To create the look below I used the deep shimmery orchid eye shadow in my crease. Then I took the shimmery cocoa shadow and lined under my eye and used it on the outer edge of my lid. It was also used in the crease to add depth to my lid. I used Radiant Orchid in the middle of my lid and the glittery champagne on the rest of my lid. Finally, I used the matte pink under the brow. I used Gazing Paint Liquid Liner on the top lid to line. For mascara I used SEPHORA’s Upside Down (new and fabulous!). On my lips I used (Radiant Gloss Trio) Nude on the outer edge of the top and bottom and Sheer Pink on the inside top and bottom of my lips to create an ombre effect.

This look was created by taking the two shades and blending them into the crease. I used the shimmery cocoa and the light warm tan shade for this. Then I used the dark matte aubergine shade to line under the eyes and used it on the outer edge of the lid and to blend up into the crease to add depth to my lid. On my lid I used the shimmery orchid shade. Under my brow I used the matte pink shade and blended up and out. I used the Gazing Paint Liquid Liner on the top lid to line. On my lashes I used SEPHORA’s Upside Down mascara. On my lips I used (Radiant Gloss Trio) Radiant on the outer edge of the top and bottom and Sheer Pink on the inside top and bottom of my lips to create an ombre effect.

    1. Alice,
Thank you very much! I am sad for you that there is not a SEPHORA near you anymore. That would make me very depressed. :( I appreciate the kind comment!

  2. The colors are radiant. Love the color pay off as well.

    1. Aren't they? This is one of the better if not the best collections that they have put out.
