Review: Apothederm Brightening Cleanser #Apothederm

If you have sun damage, age spots or any sort of hyperpigmentation, then you are likely in need of brightening skin care. Apothederm has a whole line devoted to brightening. I tried out their Brightening Cleanser. This cleanser not only cleanses but it refines, brightens and tones the skin. It is formulated with malic acid (from apples) and Vitamin C. The cleanser exfoliates dead skin cells, from the salicylic acid it has. And this cleanser helps to hydrate the skin, as it has glycerin (a humectant) and cucumber fruit extract (which moisturizes). It also has sage leaf, which is an anti-inflammatory for the skin. Vitamin E helps to attack free radicals, helping to keep fine lines away.

I have been using this cleanser for over a month now. It is a very nice cleanser. It is made with one sulfate, which does help to give it a good lather. So, if you prefer a sulfate-free cleanser then you will be looking for something else. This cleanser does have a good number of botanicals in that help to brighten and exfoliate the skin. It does leave the skin feeling soft and smooth after cleansing. It doesn’t leave it feeling too dry either, which is great. For me, I think this cleanser is also good for mild acne because it has malic and salicylic acids in it (which are good for bacteria and helping to get rid of the skin clogging up pores). In fact, this cleanser is listed as being good for acneic skins. I do think that using this cleanser WITH a brightening serum and a brightening moisturizer is an essential part of the brightening regimen. Exfoliating the dead skin cells is an essential part of the brightening process. It is important to have the skin refined prior the having any serum applied.  This helps with the overall process. So for this reason I do recommend this cleanser.
Apothederm Brightening Cleanser is great for all skin types except the most sensitive. Apothederm Brightening Cleanser retails for $28.00 (6 fl.oz/177mL). It is available from www.apothederm.com.
