Every year on World Sight Day (October 9th) , L’OCCITANE releases a new fund raising soap for sale in its stores.On October 8th, 2014, L’OCCITANE will launch its 2014 Shea Solidarity Soap.100% of the profits from the sales will finance NGOs like Sight Savers, Light for the World, VisionAid Overseas, Medicus Mundi,and others working on eye health projects in developing countries.In 2013, over $200,000 was raised to launch projects to helping the blind .
To further support and share this important cause with the world, L’Occitane is partnering with the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) to showcase a month-long exhibit in NYC celebrating the life of Helen Keller entitled “Helen Keller: Journey Through the Senses.” This exhibit will run during normal store hours at the 86th Street NYC flagship location from October 9th through October 26th and will focus on the five senses, specifically Keller’s engagement with the world around her through her senses of touch, taste and smell. Through interactive stations and never-before-seen displays of rare artifacts and photos from the Helen Keller Archives, shoppers will get an in-depth look at the rich life of Helen Keller.
