There are two big enemies of the skin that cause premature aging: sun and smoking. Both of these can be prevented. First, stay out of the sun and second, don’t smoke. It is vitally important that you wear at least a broad spectrum SPF 30 daily on your face, neck and décolleté to help prevent premature aging of the skin. And this needs to be done from early on, I am talking from at least 6-7 years old or even younger. Children need to stay out of the sun, no need for them to go tanning. The culture of tanning is bad and should be discouraged. Tanning causes wrinkles and skin cancer (off soapbox).
The single worst enemy of the skin is the sun, or solar radiation as it is scientifically called. UV rays damage the skin’s DNA so that the immune system becomes impaired, energy production is hindered. Molecular damage becomes visible under the microscope. Irritation, redness and skin dullness becomes visibly apparent. To counteract and prevent this, use a hydrating day cream with a SPF 30 or greater. It contains the following sunscreen ingredients: Avobenzone 3.0%, Homosalate 5.0%, Octinoxate 5.0%, Octocrylene 2.7% and Oxybenzone 5.0%.These are chemical sunscreen ingredients, if you are sensitive to chemical sunscreens this product will not work for you. The sunscreen ingredients are ones that work very well at absorbing UV rays and help keep them from increasing free radical attacks.
The best way to use this day cream is every day, even on cloudy days. Apply after cleansing skin, in the morning. If you have any serums to use, apply those first. Wait at least 15 minutes before going out into the sun so that the sunscreen can metabolize with the skin. Make sure to apply to the neck and décolleté too. You do not need a ton of this product to use for the entire face, neck and décolleté. Only maybe the size of a quarter. Avoid contact with eyes, as it will irritate them.
I love this day cream. This product is really a day cream with a broad spectrum sunscreen in it. It is light on the skin, sinks right in and is not greasy. It feels good on the skin and does not feel heavy at all. I do feel that I can wear this and still wear a foundation primer too, which is important to me. I like to be able to wear both. I do wear this every day, as I am extremely fair and need a sunscreen daily. This day cream protects my skin very well. I like that there are several key sunscreen ingredients in it and that it is a day cream with a broad spectrum sunscreen of at least a SPF 30. I feel that I need a SPF 30 daily to get good protection.
