Review: Kensington Apothecary Sake Skin Detox Tonic #sakedetoxtonic #skincare #kensingtonapothecary

Kensington Apothecary is a 100% all natural skincare brand. It is the newest creation of Claudia Carey Batz, the brand designer and formulator of the highly successful national body care brand Valentina’s Home-Brewed. She worked for 3 years to formulate her 14 product debut line of natural facial skin care. The goal in creating Kensington Apothecary was to fill the desperate need for a high-end department store-level beauty line which could compete against the hottest luxury skincare products with state of the art performance, all while exceeding the daunting 100% natural ingredient standards of the most exacting natural skincare customer. She ultimately met this goal and met it well. The line is very successful and the products perform very well.

She created many of the natural product bases while researching traditional British and European skincare recipes from the Renaissance through the Victorian eras. Some of them had animal ingredients in them, such as shark liver oil, so she updated them with plant-based naturals to conform to the values and priorities she set for her brand. The brand is based in Portland, Oregon and is formulated and manufactured with 100% natural ingredients using organic and NON-GMO raw materials and the most advanced natural actives available (primarily sourced from Switzerland and France).

Sake Detox Skin Tonic 4 fl.oz./118 mL

This product is unlike any other. If your partying lifestyle is leaving you with dark circles, sagging skin and an all-around “fatigued” look, then fight back with the unique blend of Organic Brown Rice Vinegar and Chamomile Hydrosol infused with Mimosa Bark and Olive Leaf Extracts. Excessive sugar intake and an active social/work life can leave skin looking bloated and overworked, with dark circles, sallowness and sagging. These are the effects of glycation, which can cause accelerated aging of the skin. Sake Skin Detox Tonic is formulated to combat this process, so skin can liven up to be fabulous again.

To use: Sweep across a clean face with an organic cotton ball or a reusable flannel cloth. Keep away from eye area. May be used morning and night. Follow with the Skin Serum and Facial Oil of your choice. Always use a broad spectrum sunscreen during the day.

So does it work? Yes, it does. I used it at times where I felt particularly tired because of insomnia. My facial skin felt and looked tired. I was dragging. My skin texture was not firm and as soft as it usually was. I used this to liven up my skin and noticed that it looked better. Not immediately but after a few swipes of the tonic and about 10-15 minutes later my skin did not have that tired look anymore. Use in the morning to freshen up skin that is in need of some TLC. The ingredients are all natural and in large enough amounts to definitely help your skin out. The main ingredients in this tonic are Chamomile Flower Water, Witch Hazel, Aloe Leaf Juice and Brown Rice Vinegar. It does have some water in it but it is not the main ingredient. The tonic also contains: Mimosa tree extract, Fig fruit extract, Olive Leaf extract, kelp extract, Mugwort extract, Honeysuckle extract, and Japanese Honeysuckle extract.

Sake Skin Detox Tonic retails for $28.00 and is available online at www.kensingtonapothecary.com, at natural grocers and fine cosmetic retailers nationwide.
