I have always been a fan of Garnier products. I love their hair care products and have used a good number of their skincare products in the past. I was very excited to try their new Garnier SkinActive Waterproof Micellar Cleansing Water All-In-1 Cleanser. I tried the waterproof version. Micellar Cleansers are not new, they have been around for a few years now, I have tried them before. However, I think the technology has advanced to the point that Micellar Cleansers are now almost perfect. The ones I tried before were good but not as good as the cleanser I am reviewing today.

What is a Micellar Cleanser? It is a different form of cleansing that does not require you to use any water at all. Micelles are detergent molecules suspended in a colloid solution, which is the cleanser. This cleanser takes care of all the makeup, oil, dirt and debris from the face on a cotton pad and removes it. Micelles captures makeup, oil, dirt and debris like a magnet and lift it away from the face without any harsh rubbing, leaving skin feeling perfectly clean and refreshed without over drying. This all-in-1 bi-phase cleanser is very powerful yet gentle to the skin, as it removes even waterproof makeup, cleanses skin and refreshes it. The reason this one is bi-phase is because it is for waterproof makeup. The Micellar Cleanser that is not for waterproof makeup is not a bi-phase cleanser. This product does not contain any alcohol, oil or fragrance. This cleanser also comes in a regular formula that does not remove waterproof makeup. That formula is not a bi-phase cleanser. The bi-phase is specifically for the waterproof makeup removal.

I have been using this cleanser for a couple of weeks now and I can say that it does remove eye makeup and face makeup easily, completely and without and trouble. I am able to remove my makeup with two cotton pads. One for my eye makeup and one for my face makeup. I use both sides so as not to be wasteful. Since this is a bi-phase cleanser, I shake it very well right before I use it then apply a good soaking to the cotton pad. I mean a good soaking, so that the cotton pad is very wet. Then I remove my eye makeup first and my face makeup second. Afterwards my skin feels very clean and refreshed. I do use a toner as there is just a slight bit of residue left on my skin and I want to make sure to remove it. That is just for me though, you could get away with not using anything really.

This cleanser is a great cleanser. It does a very good job at removing makeup, dirt, oil and debris from the face. It is also recommended that this be used in the morning for the cleansing routine. I prefer to only use this at night to remove makeup. In the morning I like to use a foaming cleanser to really get rid of the overnight grime that accumulates on the skin. I like the fact that this cleanser does remove all of my makeup so easily, even the waterproof makeup. It does not leave any oily residue on the face, like other bi-phase cleansers do. It takes off all of my eye makeup and my foundation in a pinch. My skin is left feeling very refreshed and the only reason I use a toner is more for my personal preference, rather than anything else. There is not really a residue left on the skin it is more that I like to make sure that nothing is left. It is more of an OCD issue.
