I have used a few products from SimySkin before and when asked if I would like to pick something out and try a product from their collection, I said, "Heck yes!" I have always been very happy with their products. I chose to try the Micro-Exfoliating Toner, because it has 10% Glycolic Acid in it. If you read my blog then you know I am an alpha hydroxy acid junkie and I love peels. To have a toner with this amount of acid in it seemed intriguing, so I set off to use it and see where it would take my skin.

The Micro-Exfoliating Toner is a daily exfoliating toner that deeply penetrates the skin to remove dead skin cells, impurities and blockages from the pores caused by sebum and dead skin cells. It also attacks the first signs of aging. This toner can be used as an exfoliant 2-3 times a week for sensitive skins. It contains a high concentration of glycolic acid, 10% in addition to lactic acid and salicylic acid. Lactic acid comes from milk and is also an AHA and salicylic acid is what aspirin is made from and is a beta hydroxy acid.

Gently apply the toner twice daily to the face using a soaked cotton ball or cotton pad after cleasning and drying the skin. Follow with serums and moisturizers. First time users must slowly build up tolerance before using the product daily. Note that there is a sunburn alert with this product. You must continue to use a sunscreen when using this product, as it makes your skin more sensitive to the sun. All AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) make skin sensitive to the sun. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week after discontinuation of this product. Contact of the product with the skin must be of limited frequency or duration. Use only as directed. Avoid contact with eyes. If irritation perists, discontinue use and consult a physician.

What are the benefits of each of the ingredients? Well, glycolic acid, the main ingredient is able to penetrate skin deeply to treat fine lines, blemishes, blackheads, dullness and oiliness. Its use is even better as a daily exfoliator to provide the same results as peels. Lactic acid improves skin texture and hydration. Salicylic acid removes redness and inflammation by opening up pores. This toner is gentle on normal to combination skin, and works well on normal skin and can even be used on dry skin and somewhat on sensitive skin. It works great on oily and acneic skins. It is actually recommended for all skin types.

How did I like the SimySkin Micro-Exfoliating Toner? Personally, I loved it. For me this toner is a very successful toner. I have normal to dry skin in the winter and normal to combination skin in the summer. So it would work for me year round. I love how it makes my skin feel after I use it. It takes off the extra dead skin, you can even see it on the cotton round (light brown material) after using it. I love how it just gets rid of the dead skin siting on top of my epidermis. Underneath, is smooth baby skin waiting to get through. Once a week I do a scrub or a peel to really speed the exfoliation along. But I like that I can use this to exfoliate every day. I would highly recommend this toner if you like to exfoliate your skin daily too, if you feel you NEED to exfoliate your skin every day (acne is bothering you, such as blackheads, whiteheads or some lesions) or if you are starting to see the signs of aging. This kind of exfoliation can help ease the signs of aging, helping with fine lines, wrinkles and evening out skin tone. It also helps to reduce hyperpigmentation. This is the best toner I have tried.
