Ok, for most of us we have at least a month of summer vacation left. Our kids don't go back to school for at least one more month. That means one more month of "Mom, I'm bored." Well I have something that will get your kids motivated to do something, especially on rainy days.
It is a book called The Craft Kingdom: DIY and Craft Projects for Kids and Adults written by Eli Maor. This book details 13 different kinds of craft and DIY projects that can be done by you and your kids with little to minimal amounts of money and effort. The projects are all very good, with professional results easily obtained. Mr. Maor is a 'crafting minimalist' and believes in using what you have around and not spending a lot of money on crafts.
Take for example the craft of Nail Polish Marble Painting on coffee cups. It requires several white coffee cups, available at the dollar store, nail polish, a container and some water. The craft is very easy. Pour some water into the container and drip sme nail polish into the container. Drip the mug into the water until you like the design of the mug and then take it out and let it dry on a paper towel. You can also paint nail polish on keys to set them apart from other keys.
Some other crafts and projects include: soap making, candle making, notebook cover, pet necklace, hair jewelry, flower headband, necklace, branched glass, buttons bracelet and buttons broach, wall hook rack and napkin decoration on candles.
I think this is a lovely book and details a number of different craft and DIY projects that will definitely work out well for you and your children or just you if you wanted to try some of them yourself. I know I tried a couple of the harder projects just to see how the difficulty level was and it was not hard. I did not take pictures of them because they did not come out the way I wanted them to. However, at least I tried. What I love most about this book is that anyone can do these crafts and projects. You don't have to be some kind of super crafter. These are super easy and fun to do. You will have a blast with your kids creating memories that will last a liftetime.
