Masks are an essential part of the skincare regimen. They help decongest skin, purify it and also help to moisturize skin. The mask I am going to review today is specifically to help decongest skin and purify it, to help get rid of blackheads (comedones) and acne blemishes (lesions) so that skin looks beautiful and smooth without the stigma of acne that so many face daily.

SHILLS Acne Purifying Peel-Off Black Mask is an incredible charcoal treatment mask instantly brightens and softens skin as it also instantly removes clogged pores (follicles), acne, supposedly helps with fine lines, blemishes, blackheads and pimples (pustules). Your skin will look more luminous and will become more toned, and be softer and smoother as well as look more glowing. It will make your skin look healthier and more hydrated. This peel-off mask eliminates clogged pores and prevents bacteria accumulation on your skin. It regulates sebum production to help prevent future breakouts and makes pores look smaller while clearing up skin. I recommend this mask for skins that are combination, oily or acneic, not for normal to dry and mature skins. It is a powerful mask and can actually be drying to the skin if you are not careful. This mask was a Pure Beauty Global Awards 2018 Finalist.

Here is a photo of me wearing the mask:

To use: apply mask to cleansed and damp skin. Make sure to apply a medium to thick layer. Use the enclosed spatula that comes with the mask. Make sure to avoid any hair and eyebrows, as this will come off when peeling off the mask. Also avoid eyes and lips as the skin is too thin in those areas. Leave on for 20-30 minutes or until fully dry. Then peel-off, gently starting from the bottom peeling upwards. For best results, finish with toner to help regulate the pH level of the skin and tighten pores.

I can use this mask in the summer as my skin is a little bit more oily but in the winter I cannot. I still suffer from some acne lesions from time to time but as I get older my skin is starting to dry out.

This mask does help extract blackheads and alleviate clogged pores. It is a strong mask though and I feel it does not help with fine lines or wrinkles though. I do think it does most of the other claims it makes though: it does help with acne lesions, makes skin smoother and it does help with make skin more luminous and brighter. Personally my skin felt dry after using it, not more hydrated. So, this is a great mask for those with acne, blackheads and oily skin. The reason it works so well is that it has activated charcoal in it which draws out the sebum and dead skin cells that make up a blackhead (comedone) and sucks them out of the pore (hair follicle) so that they don't stretch out the pore and cause it to lose elasticity and look large. It also helps it from becoming an acne lesion such as a pimple (pustule, whitehead, etc). Anytime you have a blackhead and bacteria comes in then you immediately have a pimple situation.

The SHILLS Acne Purifying Peel-Off Black Mask is sold on www.amazon.com. It retails for $10.99.

Until Next Time~
