It is the kind of mask that can be used every day if need be and is great for the end of the day, to leave on overnight for intense use. This intensely hydrating gel-oil formula leaves depleted skin feeling nourished and comfortable, with a smoothed texture that appears naturally radiant and refreshed. It is a very thick mask that when applied sinks right into dry, dehydrated skin and gives it the moisture that it is lacking. 

In a 2-week self-assessment study 48 women, ages 35-60 used the mask once a day. 83% of them agreed that skin felt supple, velvety soft and look naturally luminous after use. I can definitely agree with them. After I used this mask, I felt like my skin had been brightened and renewed, was more hydrated and had much more moisture in it. 

To use this mask, apply to dry, freshly cleansed skin. Massage into skin. Leave on for 10 minutes and tissue off excess or leave on overnight for really radical results. I leave mine on for overnight, as I find I get better results that way. Make sure to avoid contact with eyes. After using you will find your skin is much softer, has more moisture and is not as dehydrated, looks brighter and rejuvenated/renewed. It can be used every day. I would recommend that at least twice a week for those with dry skin. Mature skins could do three times a week, and dehydrated skins the same. I would also recommend this for normal skin once a week. I really would not recommend this for normal, combination, oily or acneic skins. Those skin types produce enough sebum to protect the natural skin barrier and that holds in the moisture so that skin stays moist and softer.

BIZ Stain Fighter: How Does It Get The Job Done?

For the past few months I have been writing on and off about the stain fighting powers of BIZ Stain Fighter. Today I would like to discuss just how BIZ Stain Fighter actually gets the job done on your clothes, household items and other various items in your family that may need the power of BIZ...hey, you just never know when you may need it, it is a great thing to keep on hand. 

Say you have a stain, a rough stain that needs to come out. Like ketchup or blood (even worse). Protein based stains are the hardest to come out. Hey, lets make it a grass stain in addition to the others to make it even harder. The first thing I would advise you to do is to take a bit of the wet BIZ Stain Fighter and apply to the stain, wait a few hours and then wash. Or, use the BIZ Stain Fighter and do a pre-soak of the garment and let it soak for 1-4 hours. You dissolve 1/2 cup of BIZ Powder to a gallon of warm water and soak garments as a pre-soak prior to washing.To pre-treat, first wet the area, make a paste and then spread the paste over the stain. Let sit up to 30 minutes. Then wash as usual. 

First rule of laundry: when you take your clothes out of the wash, check to make sure the stain is gone. Once it gets into the dryer, the stain is set. Once that happens, it is usually too late. 

What differentiates BIZ Stain Fighter from all the others out there? Why has it lasted so long on the market while others come and go and why does it work so darned well?

BIZ is useful not just for laundry. Like baking soda, it has uses across the house that you may never have thought of. It can be used on bathtub and tile to get grout clean and remove soap scum. In the kitchen it helps to deodorize things. On patios and decks you can use it help clean up and do some spring cleaning. Finally, it makes a great hard surface cleaner. 

As for the best use to help get rid of your stains, it depends on the product. with the liquid you can pre-treat the garment and let it sit for up to a week (but it only takes 5-10 minutes for the enzymes to work). BIZ Powder is added to your detergent to help boost its performance. The liquid can be added too. Finally we have the Liquid Booster tablets which are added to the laundry and help boost detergents power. All of these clean up to 80% better than detergent alone. I love sheet masks. Well, masks in general. I especially love sheet masks because they do so much in such a small amount of time. The Koreans invented sheet masks and thank goodness they did. It was a great invention. Sheet masks can have just about anything infused into them. I was lucky enough to score a preview of the NEW JULEP Triple Quench Deep Hydration Sheet Mask System from Preen.me. 

This next generation sheet mask consists of three parts. It makes a complete hydrating at-home facial: in one packet. The system instantly reveals softer, brighter, plumper-looking skin in just 15 minutes. It doesn't contain any artificial colors or fragrance. I adored this "at-home facial". I say at-home facial in quotation marks because there are no extractions or steam and no exofiation with this facial. I am a licensed Esthetician after all. My favorite part? The sleeping pack. I am finding that these moisturizers/overnight masks are making great creams for overnight use and they really do work wonders on the skin. Only a country as great as South Korea could come up with a name as Sleeping Pack for skincare. Because let me tell you, those creams are good. They work wonders on the skin. Her goal for this book is to increase your KQ, or Kindness Quotient. At the end of every chapter is a quiz to increase your KQ. You answer the questions and this is supposed to increase your KQ. There is a large scale post-assessment at the end of the book as well as a small area to journal your thoughts and feelings about kindness and your kindness quotient. One thing she brings up and that is authentic kindness is a character trait. This is true. You are either born kind and brought up to be this way or you are not. I consider myself to be a kind person and I tried to bring up my kids this way. I consider myself to be considerate of other people's feelings and I like to do something completely altruistic as often as I can. 

She also mentions that if you want to be happier, be kind. You will be surprised at how this can lift your mood. Doing something nice for someone else, instantly makes you a happier person. Also, try not to take offense at everything. And this is a biggie. If you didn't get invited to a party, don't dwell. Think, well maybe it was a get-together for a specific group of people. Don't shoot yourself in the foot and say anything. Not everything that we think has to fall out of our mouths. An act of kindness is thinking about what we will say before we say it.

You can also increase your happiness or kindness quotient by developing a thick skin. Which is important. Remain uninfluenced by unkind words. Instead of being disingenuous you will be considered above the fray. The Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley reports that, "Kindness Makes You Happy and Happiness Makes You Kind." Another way to impart kindness is to be an ambassador of kindness. If say your friend is having trouble with her husband, instead of saying bad things about the husband, say good things just in case things turn around. Because she will remember all the bad things you said. 

In giving kindness, you give someone dignity. Say for example you are kind to someone who has lost their home. Being kind and donating money to that person even though he or she may not be able to pay you back is a great way to show kindness. Because that person may not be able to pay you back, but he or she will pay if forward in acts of kindness. And it makes that person feel more valued and not as less dignified in the eyes of society. Also, just asking someone how someone is doing and actually listening to their answer. You don't have to fix anyone, just listen. 

One important fact. Kindness cannot be conditional. You give it that's it. Do not expect anything in return. And especially don't do it based on the worthiness of the individual. You will not become proficient at being kinder overnight. It takes time of course. But you will become a better person for it. 

There is more to share in the book but I will leave it up to you to read. This is a self-help book that actually helps you be a better person, and in this day and age we could all use this. I can think of a few people I would send this too right away. However, that is not the goal of the book. Help yourself. Then only can you truly help others.

In fact this is a trend that is likely to stay around for a while. The technology behind matte lip colors has come such a long way that wearing them no longer dries out your lips so much that you feel as if you are in the Sahara desert! In fact, COVERGIRL just came out with a new line of beautiful matte liquid lipsticks.

They glide on evenly for a gorgeous, smooth finish. With a large amount of concentrated pigment, these have high impact, super rich color and a rich, matte finish for the lips. They cover extremely well in one swipe of the flocked applicator. These matte lip colors are part of the COVERGIRL Melting Pout line. And the fact that they are not so drying on the lips!

As I said, I really like these liquid lipsticks considering they are matte. They don't leave the lips feeling dry and cakey. These go on smoothly and are extremely pigmented. I do enjoy how nice these are. The evolution of matte liquid lip color these past few years has been extraordinary. A few years ago we had colors that were gorgeous but left our lips feeling like we were living in the desert. Now they contain great moisturizing and emollient ingredients that save our lips from feeling like that. It definitely makes a difference in which brand you will purchase from. And the technology has trickled down from high end brands to the mass market brands in no time.

I know that in previous posts I have mentioned my penchant for peels. I have long been a proponent of alpha, beta & poly hydroxy acids for their ability to help clean out pores (hair follicles), exfoliate dead skin cells, lighten up hyperpigmentation, clear up acne, help uneven skin tone, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and to brighten up the skin leaving it looking luminous. Not to mention the fact that deeper peels will actually injure the skin causing it to rebuild collagen and thus repair the skin itself so that deep wrinkles can be removed. Even using alpha & beta hydroxy acids in a lighter solution daily can really help acne, reducing old scars and redness, thus making the person's self-esteem be much more evident and pronounced. That is why I got into the beauty business. To help people feel better about themselves, not just in a superficial way. 

The other day I did a review of the new DERMAFLASH 2.0 LUXE. This is the upgrade to their award winning release of their first device and is also an improvement over their first one. Well they have also come out with another product, DERMAFLASH FLASH & GLOW Resurfacing Peel Pads. These pads gently exfoliate and brighten skin to reveal a smoother, healthier and more youthful-looking complexion. Using a combination of glycolic and salicylic acids, these pads slough off dead skin cells, soothe irritation and minimize the appearance of an uneven skin tone and fine lines. These can be used in between your weekly DERMAFLASH treatments or ideally in addition to them, to help aid in having the most beautiful skin possible. The most ideal situation is to use them on your face immediately after your weekly DERMAFLASH treatment and prior to applying POSTFLASH. I would advise to do this if you have mature, dry, normal, combination or oily skins. If you have sensitive skin, I would say skip the peel pads and wait to use them in between treatments or maybe not use them at all. Your skin might not be able to tolerate these pads, even though they are very gentle. DERMAFLASH FLASH & GLOW Resurfacing Peel Pads can be used every-other day to help create and maintain youthful, radiant looking skin.  

For me these pads are extremely gentle on my skin, but my skin are quite used to AHAs and BHAs. So I really don't feel their effects. Glycolic acid is an excellent exfoliant, and is one of the best for getting rid of dead skin cells without causing any major irritation. It can be used in lighter strengths yet still has effectiveness that other AHAs do not at a lower level. Salicylic acid is a BHA (beta hydroxy acid) that exfoliates and is also an antibacterial. So not only are you getting the exfoliation, but it also clears up acne bacteria too. Both of these help to get rid of old acne scarring (redness), hyperpigmentation, fine lines and uneven skin tone. I consider these to be a nice addition to the DERMAFLASH regimen. Using these peel pads will only enhance the effects of the device and make the results you achieve more successful. Not only will you get rid of the peach fuzz on your face, but your exfoliation will be deeper and your skin will look more radiant and luminous. I would not use anything else other than these pads after your DERMAFLASH session, as these have been designed specifically to work with the device and you could be asking for redness, irritation or something worse if you use another product that has not been tested out in conjunction with the DERMAFLASH.
