The Resurgence of Nude Lip Liner

Remember the 90's when everyone wore nude or brown lip liner under every lipstick? Or how during the 90's brown lip liner was creeping out from under the lipstick even if it was bright red? Well nude and brown lip liner is back but it is done better now and it is actually good to wear under many colors as it does provide a YLBB (your lips but better) look to the lipstick.

I have two favorite colors I wear for my brown lip liner: Make Up For Ever Aqua Lip Waterproof Lip Liner Pencils in 3C and 7C. The 3C is a beautiful medium natural beige that works for any nude shade of lipstick and 7C is a pink brown that is good for any darker shade of nude lipstick. And sometimes I take both of them and use them together for an ombré look that adds depth to the lips. You can then add gloss in a clear or light pink shade over this to make the lips look larger and more luscious.

Here are the pencils I am discussing:

They look very similar, don't they? There is just the slightest bit of difference in the color. Just enough to warrant calling one darker than the other. Barely. They make excellent lip liners in my opinion because they last forever. These pencils are waterproof. So they last through what you eat, even if it is oily and they

It is very easy to do this. You cannot even tell that I am using two different lip liners. First take the darker lip liner and use it to line the outer corner of the top and lower lip. Then fill in. Next, take the lighter color lip liner and line the top where the cupid's bow is and the lower lip right below at the center. Then fill in and blend. Your lips will look fuller this way. Finally, add a clear lip gloss (even one with some shimmer is good) or a light pink lip gloss with shimmer, to add some depth and really make the lips pop (Yes, I line just outside my lips a little bit to increase how big they look).

Using a nude or light brown lip liner is a great way to mute brighter colors too. If you want a bright color to really pop, use the same color lip liner. However if you are wearing a bright color lipstick, and you want to mute it just a tiny bit, wear a nude shade of lip liner.

Mainly the resurgence of nude lip liner has been due to nude lipsticks. Everyone loves a good nude lipstick. And you should have a few good ones in your arsenal. A matte, cream, shimmer, holographic and metallic one. I have at least 100. I love nude lipsticks. They are the quintessential lipstick for everyday and can be used with any look. And of course nude lip liner is always good for nude lipstick. Sometimes it is good to use a nude lip liner that is just a bit darker than the nude lipstick to really accentuate the color and bring out the lips, making them look fuller.
